This^Navy had a better team.
Better coached with players as good as FSU.
You are absolutely correct. I got him confused with someone else. My bad.He transferred to Miami
That Triple-Option Wing-T Offense is the most annoying & frustrating Offense to prepare for as a Defense.
You can study film on it for an entire offseason & you're still gonna be unprepared against it.
I fuxkin hate the Fullback Dive.

In their history, the service academies have scored some major upsets against teams with way more talent, in large part because of what you just mentioned. Mostly the Naval Academy.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Navy one of the teams that drove a stake though the heart of Mr. parade float with the “decided schematic advantage” Charlie Weis in his last year at ND.
Yes! Navy won at ND back in 2007 under Paul Johnson.
Air Force started it vs ND during the 1980s under Ken Hatfield.
Army took AF's cue and implemented the wishbone, scrapped it 2000 when they hired ECU's OC Todd Berry, but eventually returned to it when they hired Monken (Johnson disciple) at Georgia Southern.
I am probably in the minority as a Cane fan, but I enjoy watching their offenses. All three bring different twists, but contrary to popular belief, they are creative, constantly evolving, and many coaches at all levels copy some of their stuff, including Mario.
Unless it were the Canes, I always pull for the three military academies (knew it had been a while, but 51 seasons have passed since we last played any of 'em)
- UM 2-0 vs Air Force (last game 1962)
- UM 3-0 vs Army (last game 1971)
- UM 3-2 vs Navy (last game 1975)
Interesting. I didn’t even know we had played them in the past, granted the last game was more than 50 years ago, but still I should probably have known that.
Quick Google search:
"November 7, 1975: On this day 50 years ago, Navy defeated the University of Miami 17-16 in front of a homecoming crowd of 18,987 fans at the Orange Bowl. The game was a happy homecoming for Navy quarterback John Kurowski, who was a 1974 graduate of Hollywood Hills High School in Broward County"
Canes fan since '74, but I didn't recall anything about playing Navy. But we lived in rural Escambia County at the time, so there wasn't ever a lot of Miami in those days.
We finished 2-8 under Carl Selmer, but check out the schedule:
at Georgia Tech
(then Big 8 murderer's row for 3 weeks)
Oklahoma
@nebraska
Colorado
Houston
@Boston College
Navy
@FSU
Notre Dame

Thanks for the historical perspective. That was a **** of a schedule. I know Miami had some good years way back when, but that sure wasn’t one of them.
The offense has become even more frustrating to prepare and play against these last few years as their current OC Cronic has incorporated pass concepts to their playbook. Not exactly AirRaid but enough that one can't simply prepare against run option. Alot of bigger programs are copying some of their stuff.
As solid as Horvath was last year, his backup Braxton Woodson is a superior athlete and has the potential to be better if he can learn to pick up the reads better. I don't think he throws as good as Horvath, but if he can come close they'll be really good again. They do have some studs to replace though
