The UNC game is going to be tougher than they appeared pre-season

You telling me you wouldn't be worried if we beat NC the way UF beat us....by lucky mistakes on their part and escaped with a FG win you WOULDN'T be worried???

If your answer is no....then just don't bother replying to this post cause I'm lumping you in with the audience I addressed in my OP.

If you WEREN'T being sarcastic, then ignore this post cause I misread it.

On year 1 for game 2? No, I wouldn’t be worried. Your expectations are absurd and your tone leads me to believe you're looking for any excuse to fire Diaz. This is coming from someone who hasn’t bought into the hype yet.

They looked ok, but no better than that. Their OL was good at times and used pulling guards and TE to get more push. The offense as a whole was about as simple as Richt so stop carter and we should be ok.

Their defense though looked athletic and physical. Able to get pressure with 4-5 consistently with LBs and safeties roaming the box in zone taking away anything short.

Should be a pretty tight game for a good while but expect us to not squander 1000 chances this time

In 2018 S Carolina's defense was ranked:

95th in avg sacks per game
104th(!) in allowed qb completion at 62%
57th in QB rating (Miami #1 btw)
113th in takeaways per game
54th in allowed passing yards per attempt
99th in allowed rushing yards per game
74th in ppg

In summary- their defense sucked last year and nothing to suggest an improvement over the past few months. People who are impressed by the UNC win really are slurping the SEC- USCe was not a good team.

By comparison Florida's 2018 was better in EVERY defensive category (I'm too lazy to retype it all exactly).

57th avg sacks per game
38th qb rating
49th rush yards allowed per game
43rd completion percentage allowed
35th in allowed pass yards per game
24th in ppg.

It should not be a close game. Miami should win by at least 2 TDs.
remember we have no OLine in front of J 'Dub.

All I can say is I disagree with every syllable you just typed.

The better roster (again), coming off a BYE, already having faced a better opponent.......Yes, I absolutely stand by what I said before. It's a fair and realistic expectation given we're playing the University of North Carolina this weekend....not a top notch team, much less even a ranked team. Don't mistake what I'm saying to mean I'm expecting a blow out. I expect us to actually PLAY WELL and control the game.

I simply can't get on board with these neutered expectations. We should be beating the North Carolina's of the world, period. I don't apologize for anything I said. The day the expectations have to be curtailed against the NC's of the world are the day I stop rooting for this program.

Enjoy calling for Manny’s head then for the next 4 years. Miami isn’t going to destroy UNC. We aren’t there yet. Too much youth on this team. Judging Díaz on game 2 with this young team is plain stupid.

I disagree. I think the blocking is ok. You are overreacting to playing a defense that will probably be top 20 at the end of the season.

Look at the RPO in Marciante's breakdown. Textbook blocks all around. Miami was often able to push UF at the LOS. Pass blocking is harder, but playcalling and better QB play can help a lot there. I recommend getting a sample size greater than 1 before determining that Miami has no OL.

Miami should win the game easily. We are playing a team that won 2 games last season. I'd wager USCe goes 5-7 this year so a close victory over a bad team does not impress me. I am holding the coaches to the same standard they are holding our players. No excuse for youth. It will be very disappointing if Diaz can't fire up the team to beat the senile HC who fired him from his job at Texas.

Again, destruction isn't what I'm looking for. A well played game against THAT opponent with 2 weeks to prepare, given our talent compared to theirs, should yield a result that doesn't require a miracle for us to win.

There's been nothing to enjoy for the last 15 years with regards to this team, so trust me....I'm looking for reasons to hope.

Sample size? Are u kidding? I have the pass three years of proof. The problems we faced against the gates will not get fixed in less than two weeks. I'm just being realistic. I really would like to be pleasantly surprised.

Miami is favored by -5.5. There is a reason for that.

So your claim is that past performance is indicative of future performance. Yet despite an allegedly subpar OL, Miami won 47-10 last year. Only explanation is that the OL must stink against everyone but UNC.

Oh, God. Some people seem to be making excuses for Diaz ahead of time for in case we lose.

They really looked a lot more together and inspired than I thought they would. They've got a really good frosh QB, a surprisingly stingy D and enough playmakers to score. Until today, I truly thought this game was going to be a blowout for us, but playing at their stadium, and playing the physical brand of football that they showed today, I really think this is going to be a hard fought game.

I've gone from my 30 point Cane blowout prediction to: Canes 30 vs UNC 23

Let's just get the W by hook or by crook and use the following month of non-conference games to get ready for the ACC gambit. This season's schedule is already feeling like it'll be more difficult and competitive than it did on paper during the offseason.

Thoughts?

I’m reading this thread and I found myself wondering what that smell was. It was very familiar but I couldn’t point my finger at it. The problem was I usually smell this when I’m in between some chicks legs and that’s why I was confused a bit..
It’s *****. I smell *****. And I mean a lot of it.
Expectations? I expect greatness and domination.
All I hear is some beta as females on here expecting
A little game control and We squeak out a win??!!!!
What the **** happened here.
Y’all mfers have been beaten into submission and placed in the fetal position by the last 4 coaches.
A bunch of Pavlov’s dogs on here shaking the minute any Opponent shows a little bit of fight and resilience.

Stop it.

They barely beat a 4-8 team

Good lord the amount of vagness is becoming unbearable w Miami fans lately. And believe me. I LIKE vaginas.

But get a hold of yourselves. You’re acting like we’re wake forest.

I'm glad that the W will count to something and probably get us ranked, the SEC bias will make the media overrate them and we will look good with a W. Ready to start our climbing
