First: "We won't fire Diaz unless we can clearly reel in an upgrade like Mario or Kiffin."

Second: "We have a lot of young talent so we should keep Diaz to ensure the young talent stays in the program."

Here's what will actually happen if we retain Diaz:
(1) Lashlee will leave

On the coaching front:
(2) Diaz will be unable to hire a competent replacement for Lashlee , since everyone knows he's a lame duck coach.
(3) Diaz will be unable to hire a competent DC, since everyone knows he's a lame duck coach.
(4) We will effectively waste TVD's talent and our young offensive talent, since we'll be unable to hire a competent OC. TVD be gone to the NFL after next year. Even if he stays one more year after next, he'll likely have to learn a brand new offense. WASTED.

On the recruiting/talent front
(5) He'll be unable to close out this recruiting class or bring in quality transfers... since recruits know he's a lame-duke coach.
(6) After Diaz is fired next year, the new hire will have a limited amount of time to put together a recruiting class and build relationships. The transition class next year will further reduce our current talent level.
(7) After two subpar recruiting classes in a row, the new hire will inherit a Miami program with significantly less talent. It'll be much more of a rebuild and less of a win-now situation.

Hiring a new coach next year:
(8) It'll be harder to land a big fish next year, since we'll have a less appealing roster.

Here's what will likely happen if we hire a new coach, even if it's a less sought after commodity like a P5 OC or DC

On the recruiting front:
(1) The new hire will reinvigorate our program with much-needed energy. The new hire can sell hope and the future. The new hire can also sell transfers on a ready-to-win now roster.

On the coaching front:
(2) the new hire is not a lame duck and has the capability to hire competent coordinators that can take this team to the next level.

In short, failing to fire Diaz will set us back years. Diaz will surely fail next year because he'll be unable to attract quality talent to plug holes. And he'll be unable to attract a quality OC or DC. A new HC, on the other hand, can help maintain our talent level, hire the appropriate coordinators, and give us a fighting shot to win the Coastal next year. FIRE DIAZ NOW!

This is exactly what I kept trying to explain in the hypothetical “what if we keep Manny another year thread”...

The absolute worst thing you can do is give a Lame Duck coach an additional season, all you’re doing is backlogging recruiting & prolonging the inevitable.

Here’s what happens if you keep Manny another year:

- We go 6-6 or possibly even worse because we’re not bringing in another good OC
- Whoever gets hired as his DC will just be another Manny puppet because he sincerely believes his Defense works.

- The 2023 class will be a complete fail because no top tier recruits are signing on with a Lame Duck coach & that’s compounded by the disaster that already is the 22 class

- Mario either signs a 10 year $90million dollar extension at Oregon or gets hired at LSU
- Lane Kiffin signs a long term extension with Ole Miss or gets hired at another high profile program

- Miami is SOL in being able to land a good coach & in 2023 will be at the behest of whatever former Cane that’s available to come back

If we don’t get rid of him now, firing him next year we’ll be way worse off as a program if you really think it about, because none of Mario, Lane, Stoops or any other major Superstar would be available for us to sign & we already know that ain’t no big name coach coming down here anyway, so sticking with Manny for 2022 is the equivalent of sticking with Al Folden after the 2014 season.

I really don’t think that most of the BOT think much past lunch when weighing the good and bad of who they will hire …

Relax. Diaz will be fired. The U does a lot of dumb stuff but they won’t let him keep his job, they may make bad decisions after firing him but he will be fired soon
