The truth about Miami football

Gentlemen, any organization has to have a vision starting from the Administration/ GM / AD down. The first priority is finding a football mind / leader to put that vision in place. There has been one constant for the past 15 + years, university higher ups, BOT, AD, school president and they have all been incompetent *****. Current vision of this school is cashing in ACC checks and just fielding a team that allows them to receive there welfare / handout payments from the conference. The program of the past of winning titles is irrelevant now.

He’s right about a lot of things but he’s wrong about the blue bloods not having big long stretches of mediocrity. OSU, Texas, Bama, Oklahoma...all had decade + stretches of garbage football.

Yep.

That’s what decades long garbage coaching does.

We won 9 and 10 games consecutively under a burnt out Mark Richt with health issues, outdated offense, and unqualified son coaching quarterbacks.

He was the best head coach we hired even with all that.

We are NOT DEAD. We are one coach away like everybody else.

Only thing between us and a good football team is the administration.

It wouldn't take that much to bring the program back from the dead. Competence from the top down would be a good start. I'm not talking about hiring Urb. I mean hiring a competent coach as opposed to some washed up, in over his head, used car salesman (or combination thereof).

Nothing new here. Most of us Canes that have been around a while already know this.

The one point he makes that stands out to me is that before 1983, Miami was an after thought. I was there in the 60's and 70's. The Notre Lames, Texas, and other "blue bloods" scheduled us like they schedule FBS schools nowadays.

We haven't reached the point of pre-1983 yet. Schnelly caught CFB by surprise in the early 80's and the momentum carried us for 20 years. That momentum is long gone and will take a monumental effort to get it back.

You know a Leach hire will be up for debate here, however, at least with Leach we know what we're getting based on a coaching record. And now that we have hind-site we can clearly see what TNM is and what 12 games have or have not produced. I'm very confident Leach would have made a better showing.
Dude would be a solid upgrade over Manny. The guy has put up 9/10 win seasons at places you aren't able to. I would love to see what he can do at a school like Miami.

Three points:
- I finally know a genius at what he does.
- “There is a problem at the leadership.”
- If this was N Korea, some people would have already faced a firing squad And not heard from again.

This phucking leadership makes me mad to no end. I would fire them all, if they were in any way my employees.

Wait until the first game of '21. Bama is going to put a beating on this program that will look like Sam Bradford's coming out party @OU in 2007.

Been saying it for years.

crushed it right from the get go. Poor senior leadership starting with Donna and Paul.... Donna used program as cash cow to fund U health while major explosion was happening in terms of facilities, salaries, support staff etc.in college football
the other issue is we overlook is that Donna had 15+ years to get her team all thru out the school and this has impacted school as well as they do not "get" importance of athletic program to school.(Nike knew we were dead and headed nowhere
give Golden and Richt credit for improving facilities but we are light years behind other schools. present day poor leadership at Presidential level a BOT who has been consistently clueless and an AD dept that is a national joke.
i cannot believe that someone from ACC, has not said WTF, your program is an embarrassment to you and ACC.
CMD and staff will never overcome FIU debacle and i hope we do not play FAU or UCF they will crush Young Manny
whose staff borders on incompetent and arguably worst in D-1.
platers have been just as bad, with a crazy sense of entitlement for having done nothing and seem to radiate the attitude of go to the U play a little ball, party on S.Beach and on to the NFL. no desire, no heart, no character
change needs to come from top down. need new blood at BOT level. Hillary Bass is going to bring us a top rated program?? AD dept is awful period with a Lazy hire by James and his sidekicks(Carol Strawely) handling of the D.Mullen hire.
they all need to go...... good news , they have run out of excuses and everyone knows were the major issues lie.
Hire a superstar AD( think S.Jankovich) that has a background in football excellence and what it means to Universities in terms of success, exposure, and money.... take a look at Bama pre saban and post Saban for roadmap of what a school with a strong program means to school.
find a strong HC let him hire a top notch staff rather than his old beer drinking buddies....
hire as many analysts as financially possible and never stop investing in program.
this will not happen overnight but an also ran in the weakest division in D-1 football unbelievable!!!!!

Wait... This is news to people?

I had posters on here attacking me when I said months ago this program should aspire (short term) to the level of PSU and Wisconsin. Can the crew that can't spell or utilize capitalization right not see where this program has been the last 16 seasons? This program hasn't been to the 2003 level since and the best Richt could muster was get to the level of last 2 years of Coker.

Miami is a top 25 talented team (going by recruiting services) getting top 50-75 results season in and season out. As bad as the last season of Richt was he was the only thing that briefly breathed any life back into this program. Had Richt hired an OC and QB coach this would be a 8-12 win team year in and year out that would get embarrassed consistently by any top 5 team. That would actually be a major improvement to this program compared to the previous decade.

A competent AD with a vision for this program would be a step in the right direction but it's so much more than that. This team puts talent in the NFL and gets serious talent from High Schools every year and then inexplicably loses to the try-hards of college football. At no point in the last 15 years has this team consistently played to its talent level or shown any identity for what this program stands for.
