The truth about Jarren Williams...

Stats
- 11 of 20 completed passes were behind the line of scrimmage (Yes 20, espn box score has it wrong at 19).
- 6 of the other 9 passes were for 10yds or under (3,3,5,6,10,10). *This is not counting yac, just the throw and catch
- 19 of 20 passes were to wide open receivers.

These are throws that any Power 5 starting qb should be able to make.

Missed Opportunites
- A low throw to Jeff Thomas at 3:20 left in the 2nd quarter cost a TD. If the ball is on point and hits JT in stride then its a TD. Notice the one safety has his body turned towards the slot and the other bites on KJ and its open field behind him. ****** a perfectly thrown pass to Thomas in the endzone dropped by Thomas. ********

- A throw behind DJ Dallas cost a TD. If the ball is on target then the DL doesn't touch DJ and all other defenders are being blocked. Kurt comments on it as well during the replay. ****** A throw thrown at Mallory where only he can catch it dropped by Mallory.

- Potential TD is missed due to not keeping eyes on Dj Dallas with the sack at 3:34 in the 3rd quarter. There was pressure but there was also an opportunity as DJ has steps on his defender downfield.

- Big plays squandered by inaccuracy and not seeing a wide open target. ******Inaccuracy means the ball is not thrown where it needs to be for the most part his throws were good, and accurate. Rosier last year was inaccurate, Perry last year was in accurate, in practices on of the deciding factors in picking a starter by Diaz and Enos was Willams accuracy and Perry and Tate's lack off accuracy. Jeff Thomas fumbled punt= Florida TD, missed field goal by Baxa, William's wasn't the only one who squandered big plays.

- Jaren had 4 chances at drives on the gator side of the field in the last half of the 4th quarter and did not score on any of them.

Other
- At least five sacks were Jarens fault. Dan enos stated this in a post game interview.
- Decision making lacked in areas like throwing the ball away, tucking and running, not tucking and running, pocket presence and posture among others. This was also commented on by Enos.
- Jaren was not the same QB as they saw in practice. This was another comment made by Dan Enos.

Thoughts
- This is UM. National championships are the bar. This was one of manny's first statements as head coach. Its wins or nothing here. This was stated after the loss by Manny, DJ, and Jaren as well. There were many problems in the game that cost us a win. However, if any player has a performance like this during a game (not practice) and shows so many flaws in things that are not quick fixes then they need to be re-evaluated at minimum and possibly pulled since this may be who they are as a player. Again, this is UM and we dont tolerate losses, especially like this to Florida. If you are playing for the Miami Hurricanes then it doesn't matter if it's your first start or 40th, we expect excellence , this was also a statement made by Enos. We will not see a defense like this until clemson so do we wait until then to see if Jaren can change, or do we give some one else a shot that might not be lacking in these categories.
The truth about Jarren Williams you say based of one game against a solid defense with first time starters at tackle? Out of the 3 QBs only Williams played the majority of time under center, Perry and tate did not, by your logic if Jarren was not the same player in game than practice, and at practice he beat out Perry n tate, then starting either one of those would have equated to a bigger loss. What is not a quick fix? Trusting the pocket more? Looking downfield? That's fixable with experience, I notice you didnt mention slot of the other big plays that were not capitalized on?

THOUGHTS: BASING YOUR CONCLUSION OFF ONE GAME AGAINST A GOOD FRONT 7 ON D, NOT ALLOWING THE KID TO LEARN FROM HIS MISTAKES AND IMPROVE IS IGNORANT ON YOUR PART. IF YOU CAN'T SEE JAREN'S POTENTIAL TALENT, THEN I CANT HELP YOU, AND BASED ON YOUR LOGIC, DORSEY WAS THE REASON MIAMI LOST TO WASHINGTON HIS FIRST START HISTORY PROVED DIFFERENT. IN CONCLUSION YOU EITHER DON'T LIKE WILLIAMS AND HAD A HARD ON FOR ONE FOR PERRY OR TATE, OR YOUR ONE OF THE VAGISIL NEEDING MARTELL SLURPERS... WILLIAM'S WILL IMPROVE AND RENDER YOUR POST MEANINGLESS. ALL OF JARREN'S MISTAKES ARE FIXABLE, NOT GIVING THE KID A CHANCE TO IMPROVE IS ASININE, AND THE COACHES AGREE JARREN'S MISTAKES ARE FIXABLE SO THERE'S THAT.

While some of the things you highlight are true, it was Jarren's first game against a quality defense. OL did him no favors. Folks want to bring up Trevor Lawrence or Jameis Winston when he lit it up as a Freshman, but those dudes had far superior talent on the OL and didn't start their first game against an opponent with a quality defense like the gator. There were tons of missed opportunities all around and yes, Jarren needs to drastically improve, but it was game 1 against the best team we will see on defense this season (unless we play clemson). If Jarren comes out against UNC and plays the same way, then and only then do I start to analyze the QB and OC more critically. Enos will game plan towards Jarren's strengths now that he knows what he has at this point in his career. Jarren will improve drastically as the season goes on.

Only thing I took away from this was he's right about the Jeff Thomas throw if that is hit in stride, he's gone for sure!

Got to love arm chair QB's. Especially after first start on week 0 against a tough opponent.

Richt should have let me start a couple games at the end of last year. That would have helped on Saturday.

He throws the ball well enough, what's concerning is that both Richt and Enos have both made comments about him not getting the ball to the right receiver. The good thing is that's teachable, but will certainly keep us from winning big games until he does it.
That's not concerning unless it becomes a pattern over many games, with no signs of growth. As far as a first ever start, first ever real game experience, weak oline, rivalry game, facing a good defense, it was what any reasonable person would expect. He showed lots of promise.

"If you are playing for the Miami Hurricanes then it doesn't matter if it's your first start or 40th, we expect excellence"

What I love about these statements is how realistic and backed up by history they are.

I love the statement. I expect our coaches to adjust accordingly. The flow of the game and personnel matters. Our OC called some great plays early - and got out coached down the stretch. He didn’t address UF’s adjustments in the 2nd half. We could have gone more 11/12 personnel and executed much better. Plus, the delay of games and false starts are on the unit as a whole- that ALSO falls on the OC.

AND I SAY THAT AS A FAN OF DAN ENOS.

I want Championship play from the QB - A Frosh - and Championship coaching from the OC. I think we’ll eventually get both.

How many times does Swinney say, “we have to do a better job of coaching..” OFTEN. There’s a reason for that...

15/34 44% for 215 yards 1 TD 0 INT, in his first road start (even after 3 previous games) behind an OL with multiple All-Americans.
Went on to throw for 58% completion rate, 86 career touchdowns vs 26 INTs.

Guy's name was Ken Dorsey.

The Jarren Williams suckfest needs to chill. He did some good things, but made a ton of mistakes to go along with them. I graded him out with a C-. He needs to stop playing scared and safe and take some chances down the field or else defenses will sit on the short stuff playing cover 0 like the Gaytes did in the 2nd half.

The important thing to remember is that we haven't had a QB grade out better than a D- in any game we have played in two seasons and if Jeff Thomas makes one catch you would have given Jarren a B- or maybe even an A as a rookie starter in his first game.
