The Stupidity Of "Miami Doesn't Have The Facilities" BS

We don't have our own stadium that's on or near campus. We don't have a bubble for practice. I would say those are major negatives on the facility check list. For Christ sakes, we just put lights on the practice field this passed year or so. It is what it is.

I bet all of those talking heads out there have not been to Miami's campus to actually see the facilities. I'm not saying Miami's facilities are ideal, but they make it sound as if we are is playing in a high school gymnasium. The facilities argument is BS. Pitt is in pretty much the same situation we are (lack of a home stadium, not adequate facilities, etc.) and yet under 1st year head coach Pat Narduzzi they are 6-1 and ranked. #23 in the nation. Same with Temple. FOH with that ESPN bs.

This is actually a better example than I gave.

I want to say - just fvck this facilities garbage. What they mean is = OUR STADIUM SUCKS.
until that gets fixed......you're going to hear that word - facilities.

Truth. Dabo just called the set up "bush league" in the national press. Teams come out the same tunnel and go in the same tunnel, that's what he was criticizing. SunLife is a crap stadium even by pro standards. It's got no soul. The best things about it are the parking and the wide concourse.

All this talk about Herman and Houston... Reliant Stadium is a god**** palace compared to SunLife. We've got to find some alternative & get a good coach or that **** is gonna make us regret it.

Exactly. The stadium situation is a disaster. The $400 million patchwork means next to nothing. As I've emphasized countless times, it's largely wasted cash because you don't receive full 1-1 return on the dollar when all you are doing is figuring out workarounds on an old flawed design as opposed to starting fresh and ideal. The ridiculous tunnel alteration is just the first in a string of problems. There inevitably will be more. The engineers can't anticipate everything, and even when they do anticipate properly the fix is with themselves in mind, the ease and within the budget, not perfect for a spectator or player standpoint.

Outsiders don't need to know anything about our on-campus bubbles or toilets as long as that stadium is our home. Miami's facilities suck. That will suffice. Point to a weight room, they point to the stadium. Point to a new athletic office, they point to the sterile empty stadium. Guess who wins, in the public perspective?

USC had a long lull but it included several Rose Bowl victories. That school has steadily improved its facilities including a remake of Heritage Hall recently. There are so many newish athletic buildings in the area near Heritage Hall compared to when I was a student in the '80s that I still have to double take every time I visit. Meanwhile, when was the last time Hecht had a makeover of any significance?

If USC lacked the Coliseum smack across the street, their facilities would come under fire in comparison to other schools that have made it a top dollar priority. When I make road trips to visit schools for the first time in decades I'm always shocked at the level of improvements in terms of athletic facilities, and always alongside the on-campus stadium. So convenient and logical. We didn't understand that need decades ago. Now it burns.

its like someone said it and they all ran with it--how many of these reporters even know where coral gables is?? u would think the campus was a 3rd world country by the way reporters mention our practice facilities.

Miami should build their own stadium, and build it already full of fans so it won't be empty.

Big news: All stadiums are empty until fans decide to go fill them up. It's not the stadium's fault that it is empty. There is nothing inherent in the character of a stadium that causes it to be empty.

If I hear one more analyst bring up facilities and Miami needs this and that, I'm gonna go postal. It's thee single most retarded argument I continue to hear as to why Miami isn't back or why Miami will never be back.

I really want Paul Finebaum to pour himself a nice cold glass of clorox on the rocks and sip slow. Few questions for his dumbass:

Is there some super secret weight bench that Miami doesn't know about that would all of a sudden turn one of our RB's to Leonard Fournette?

Would Miami practicing in an indoor practice facility when it rains turn one of our DL's into Shaq Lawson?

The whole argument about facilities is dumb as ****, as it relates to Miami.

Those are not the reasons Miami isn't playing up to the level of its storied history.

Look at Miami's roster right now, a whole lot of talent and average top 15 recruiting classes and still can't win big games. That has absolutely nothing to do with facilities.

It ALWAYS takes the right coach. That's it.

I'm so glad they came out with the Trojan Horse documentary. USC had facilities galore, their own stadium, mega fan base, mega HS talent throughout Cali and STILL couldn't win games throughout all the late 80's and 90's.

One man came and put USC back on the map and that's all Miami needs, point blank period.

So Paul needs to SHUT THE *** UP forever.

It takes a coach, it also takes facilities. Really, it just took a guy at USC? Pay attention to your own argument above. Have you been to USC to compare what it has to what we have? They had better then than we have now.

Name a national champ, in the past 10 years, without better facilities than Miami. Name one in 15 years.

2014 Ohio State CFP
2013 Florida State BCS
2012 Alabama BCS
2011 Alabama BCS
2010 Auburn BCS
2009 Alabama BCS
2008 Florida BCS
2007 Louisiana State BCS
2006 Florida BCS
2005 Texas BCS
2004 Southern California BCS
2003 Louisiana State, Southern California BCS, AP, FWAA
2002 Ohio State BCS
2001 Miami (Fla.) BCS
2000 Oklahoma BCS

Take a look at what those schools actually spend on their programs. We are THE outlier, always have been. That is what we love and thrive on. That's what makes the U. It also has real limitation and we've seen that in the last FEW coaching searches.

The reality is that Greentree is legendary...based on what it did 20 years ago. We are now recruiting 16-17 year olds.

Facilities go a long way to selling recruits. They are not the only issue, but they are a very big issue.

One of the first things a real candidate will contractually require is a practice bubble, especially as we have no on campus stadium.

Have you ever heard of the phrase, "Correlation does not mean causation."

Look at you! That's cute. I love it when someone gets a new toy. Like when Tyson got "ludicrous" and just couldn't wait to drop the L-bomb.

Ok, I'll play. Ever hear the one about ignoring the obvious? How about those who ignore the past....?

Just keep telling yourself that facilities mean nothing because we are sitting on a gold mine, and a captive, secret gold mine at that. We will get all we want because of our location and our ties to local coaches...

I mean Howard locked it down, right (1979-1983)? Butch nailed it, right (1995-2000)? No other school is targeting south Florida, right? All we have to do is hire the right guy and the "fence" automatically occurs.

How did that new Internet thingy play into those administrations?

Wake up people. We have a recruiting advantage based on location. We do not get the first born by right.

The Houston Cougars don't play in Reliant Stadium. They did play some home games there in 2013 while their stadium was being built on the site of their old stadium.

The biggest thing hurting Miami is not having a stadium, I live in Miami and I hear it all the time from people

Didn't realize that... the Canes game in Houston a few years back at Reliant is the only one I've been to there. On a related note, Reliant Stadium is a god**** palace compared to SunLife.
