The staff is now complete...

How would you grade the hires (collectively)?

C.

Defense: has zero recruiters on it, just teachers.

Offense: Enos has potential but most our hoping he learned from Alabama rather than just copy and pastes his CMU-Ark offense. And the rest of the staff are largely question marks with no reputation or bad reputation.

The TE is an elite recruiter. But can anybody tell me what the WR coach does well? What the OL Coach does well? What the RB Coach does well?

How would you grade the hires compared to richts staff?

Defense is the same with baker. Call that a wash

QB - huge upgrade
WR - not sure but dugans was good
RB - not sure on hickson but i hated brown toward the end
TE - both good recruiters
ST - can't get worse?
OL - Gotta be an upgrade
OC - obvious upgrade
Agree on most of this

Hickson and Banda are decent recruiters.

The sad part is there are 2 posters who think it's a F.

B. An A would be home-runs or no questions about any of the positions. Because I have no knowledge about some of the recruiting and coaching skills at RB, OL, and WR, he gets a B from me. No obvious red flags.

He also gets extra credit for being willing to demote his friends and hire someone who has play-calling experience as DC (I don't hold the fact that he worked with Baker against him like some do).

Hickson checks a lot of the recruiting boxes, but hasn’t actually proved it yet.

And RB Coach isn’t s spot for “decent” recruiters. If you’re merely decent on the trail, you suck if you’re the RB Coach.

Kind of like hitting 15 homers. That’s fine for the catcher. But you suck if that’s what your bringing to the table at 1B.

Love there are no inexperience “connected” to south Florida. Who can’t coach coaches on this staff! Seems like experience guys let’s see how manny leads them

For me
Enos Solid A

Hickson B-

Butch Barry B-

Field B+
(I think He’s going to do very well in recruiting which tilts his grade. Not hard to coach te)

Stubblefield C hire
tecnhician that knows Enos and can teach the position but with that being said not the splash hire I was Hoping for)

2.94 overall

B- or C+

Enos is a big question mark based upon his body of work so we'll see what happens. If he was at any other school besides a handful, his numbers at past OC gigs would have each and every one of you up in arms.

Right now we just have to hope that he's been putting new ideas and plans together. It's actually what probably got him the job in the interview process as there's no way Diaz overlooked his numbers from those other places.

Probley the best staff Manny could put together in his first season.

I would like to grade it against other Canes coaching staffs.

Inconclusive, we won't know until we see results on the field & recruiting trail.

On paper, I like the Enos hire a lot because it should be a significant upgrade from Jon/Richt as far as the Offense & QB development.

Also like the Baker & Hickson hires & absolutely love getting Stephen Field huge pickup imo. No problem with the Butch Barry hire, I think his NFL experience is major upgrade over Seashells.

Also like the new S&C coach, imo this hire will be almost as important as any other we've made, it's pivotal we get our Strength program in line, our lineman were too weak & we had way too many freak injuries under Felder.

Not sure about the Stubblefield hire, Idk what kind of recruiter he is & I have no idea what kind of coach he is either. I hope it works out, if not hopefully Cooney gets the bump next year.

Enos is an A hire. Defensive staff is proven already.

Let's wait and see on the rest. You can't judge positional coaches that most here never heard of until this week just based on a few resume bullet points. It's completely asinine. The Bucs OL sucked this year so my initial reaction to the OL hire is negative but I'll give him the opportunity to lead his own group before I pass total judgment. The impulsive instantaneous polar reactions on this board are insufferable.

^ inconclusive exactly. Who are we to judge these hires so quickly on some superficial data points?

A lot of uncertainty but for me:

Enos: A (HC experience, stud qb coach, solid OC past)

Hickson: B (up and coming rb coach with 4 years d1 experience. Lots of recruiting contacts and years coaches in HS SFL)

Field: B+ (for recruiting alone. Not much coaching experience at d1 level but done very well in limited experience)

Stubblefield: C+ (the recruiting stories scare me as does his ability to never hold a job. That said he does have a lot of good experience in D1 and was a great college wr (so maybe that extra knowledge will help))

Barry: B+ (I like this hire a lot. Up and coming guy who switched to OL coach at CMU (he played OL there, too) and worked his way up. I like he spent four years as an assistant OL with the bucs learning/implementing a lot of advanced technical details and in that environment. Only concern is how is he as a college recruiter?)

aggregate: 3.18
