New pre-game show

New pre-game show​

Miami Athletics has worked hard to put together a new pre-game run of show, designed to bring in new elements, ramp up the show and build the hype to a climax right before the team enters the field. Expect to see a new-and-improved band pre-game show, the addition of an official Sebastian entrance/run-out moment, the addition of a full stadium crowd participation chant and more. We're asking fans to come in early this year to check it out and be in their seats to cheer on the Canes when they run onto the field.

Addition of Spotlights​

This year, we are bringing in spotlights and additional uplighting that will allow us to transform the environment at Hard Rock Stadium. We'll be able to spotlight special elements during the pre-game show and during timeouts such as mascot spellouts, team run-out, special ceremonies, etc. During fun or hype moments, we'll be able to program the lights in a way they enhance whatever the vibe is in the stadium. These will give home games that big event, Miami flair.

Phone Light Show

Phone Light Show​

Similar to venues around the country, Canes Football has added a special phone light show that fans will be able to participate in during the third to fourth quarter break. Fans will be able to scan a QR code on the videoboard, which will take them right into the light show. There will be no prompt to download an app. The phone lights will be programmed to the now-famous Michael Irvin 4th quarter video, followed by Thunderstruck, creating an electric environment and a new spectacle during this special moment.

Last year, we unveiled a new pre-game tradition: The Ringing of the Hurricane Siren. This year, it's back - and we'll be announcing our Siren Ringers a couple days before each home game.

Frost Band of the Hour​

Frost Band of The Hour Leadership Craig McKenzie, Sheldon McLean and Charles Damon have been working tirelessly since taking over the program to grow the band in size. They've traveled the country attending various recruitment events and have taken the program to new heights. That work is now paying off, with the band expected to grow about 50% in size from 2025 to 2026. Expect to see a bigger, louder and rowdier Frost Band of the Hour come September 10.

New Hype Man - M-Dot​

Our fans may be familiar with DJ M-Dot from the Miami Heat games, where he serves as a DJ and Hype Man. We've brought him for our home games as our lead Host and Hype Man. He will take our crowd pump-ups, full stadium chants, and in-venue MC/hosting to new heights with his infectious energy, big booming voice and swagger.

I know the lyrics to the songs, and to many of his songs for that matter, do not besmirch one of the greats please.

In fact instead of insulting, to many many people around the world a great song and those that like it, many of you can just simply be “meh it’s not for me but it’s cool if you like it”. Instead of being the end all be all of what you think is good. Or you can have a more well rounded approach to musical culture as well, broaden your horizons so to speak.

Before you jump to conclusions, I will jam from Diamond to Mettallica to Billy Joel to Skynrd to Slick Rick, Dre, KRS ONE, to Ol Blue Eyes and everything in between including musicals, only one can’t really sink my teeth into is country, but even still there is some country music I still F with.

The close mindedness being spewed here is something special with some of you
 
Theres a time and place for songs like Sweet Caroline. Up by 20 in the 4th against Notre Dame? blast it. Use it to taunt the good ole boys teams, not to hype up the crowd.

I live in TN and make mostly road games. I've been to most ACC stadiums.

Those truly "southern" and more traditional "rah-rah" style college towns have their own gameday feel and it is what it is. I could really care less if Miami's gameday experience is like theirs. When I'm watching a game at, say, UVA up in Charlottesville, as a fan...I don't want it to feel like I'm at a pro game or in Miami...I want it to feel like *that* place, and it does for the most part. I want Miami to feel like Miami, to embrace the culture and not be a sterile environment. I want it to feel like a big event with some chaos to it.

100%. I know all of our answers about the stadium usually go back to “the orange bowl” but the OB got entertainment right and it felt very miami. Hard rock has infinite more bells and whistles so I know it will never return to the bare bone days of the OB but there should be a balance… and making the atmosphere feel more Miami should be a priority. People have complained about the reggaeton played but I don’t have a problem with that because it fits. Give me everything that makes Miami, Miami.

Happy to hear you are no longer the stadium DJ. For the record, most people criticizing you were not criticizing your choice in music (other than the repetitive nature of your choices). This social media post, which was miserably self-absorbed and totally lacking in accountability and self-reflection, seems to highlight what many of us felt was your greatest failing: the false belief that anyone was going to these games for your music. To be clear, you were not the show. You were, at best, a sideshow intended for the "quiet moments" in a football game, or to help get the crowd up while we are on defense.

The majority of the critiques against you related to the timing and volume of the music you played (i.e., repeatedly playing music crazy loud when we are in the offensive huddle or after an offensive timeout, and continuing to play said music well into the playclock, and sometimes right up until the snap). You might have used some of that "musical research" time learning the game of football, and then maybe you'd understand blaring Pitbull at 120 dBs right up until 5 seconds left on the playclock may negatively impact the offense's ability to effectively communicate pre-snap. And then maybe you'd still have a job.

This is absolutely why this dude got canned. We've noted it here many times. He almost cost the Canes a delay of game penalty on a kickoff because he refused to stop the music mid-chorus. It was always about him and not the game.

And playing Sweet Caroline and a couple classic rock songs is not antithetical to south Florida culture. It adds a fun little mix.
