The Rock (needs to talk to the team)

I think us football fanatics overvalue these motivational talks from guest speakers.
Whatever 'inspiring' and 'motivational' **** a guy can say to a team will never override the issues at hand. It only fires the kids up for a day or so, then they're right back to their poor habits. Trust me, I know, we're going through it right now.

A team full of selfish, soft, entitled, lazy ****heads is NOT gonna change their ways just because The Rock (or whoever) spoke to them for an hour.
You're trying to override habits that have been building for years. It often starts at home.

The Rock can give a speech to the team tonight and we can still get our a$ses kicked 12 hours later.
Nothing he says will change the play calls or help our defense tackle better.

Remember that infamous irvin speech the night of the Kyle Wright FSU game that people love replaying? Yeah, me too.

edit: dammit, beat me to it by seconds ^^^ lol

This. We're way past the point where speeches matter. Besides Irvin, Reed, et al. have been making them since the Coker era.

blah blah blah. The Rock, Irvin, Jimmy Johnson, the ghost of Howard, Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday.

Football is different nowadays. It's not about hype, it's not even about hitting hard. If you do hit hard you actually hurt your team.

It is more of a cognitive game, almost pure x's and o's. Analytics to some extent, and not analytics that tell you when to go for a 2 point conversion. Way way deeper than that.

I'm not hear to kiss Saban's a$$, but this is the true genius of his run.

Of course it helps getting the best players by paying them and their families.

Basically this post is saying talk is cheap.

Coach Macho with the 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Inspiration typically flows from action, not words.

News Flash: Marvel superhero movies aren't real life.

This. This isn't a movie, **** doesn't happen that way. How many times has Mike Irvin or Ray Lewis spoke to our ****** teams over the last 15+ years only for us to lose to Duke.

I wish he would talk to our team as he did to his high school team...

Fire them up Rock...we need inspiration

This team is far past any pre-game rah-rah-rah from anyone.

That whole approach lost me in 2005 when Michael Irvin rolled in and gave the speech of all speeches before the season opener in Tallahassee in 2005; the same one that has been laid over "In The Air Tonight" while he talks about pressure making dude folds, or bringing out their best.... going off about being down 19-3 on that same field they were about to play on and coming back for 26-25 win .... not letting anyone else write your history, etc.

Canes ran out that tunnel, laid a 10-7 egg and missed a game-tying field goal in final seconds. Meh.

All that pre-game hype goes out the window the minute that ball is kicked off.

From there it's X's and O's and executing, based on what's been practiced all week. Coaches need their game plan, players need to put it into play and it's all out-working, out-hustling and out-performing at that point.
