The Richt vs UM Showdown

Immature and unqualified coach, immature players.
Wish u were right. You aren’t.

It’s real hard to beat a team if you aren’t gonna scheme for that specific defense. Richt hasn’t done that at all. He’s throwing the same sets plays personnel etc week after week. The D knows exactly what’s coming before the snap.

If you have an imperfect offense, like we do, then you’re gonna lose to teams with lesser talent... but better coaching.

I'm sure *** **** am not a grammatical scholar, but you both hit the nail on the head. I have to blame the HC because he's the one in charge of this mess. He's the one that is overseeing the program, and he's also the OC. He grossly under performed in each game, like he never bothered watching film of his opponents. If Miami wants to be a TOP tier team, again.... then changes NEED to be made. If NOT....well we will be here again next year with the same old tune.

Bottom line for me, Richt and son have had plenty of time to know who they have on the roster, recruit players to fill the gaps, and coach up the players to get the most out of them. There is zero reason/evidence based on their time here to believe that they aren't the root of the problem. Putting personal responsibility on the players for their own poor decision making and performance doesn't absolve the leaders who put them in that position.

Many saw this coming heading in to this season, which is why for many, this was a make or break season for Richt. It's why many are unwilling to give a pass any longer. If we could see it coming, why couldn't the guy who's been coaching for 30 years and is getting paid $4M per? More time, at this point, is beyond pointless, it's damaging to the long term prospects of the program,

@For_The_U I have no problem agreeing to disagree. I quoted you because I sensed we largely agreed, but also had some difference in perspective. I also quoted you because your comment was reasoned, as opposed to the original poster that you quoted. I'm, infuriatingly slowly, learning to avoid conversations with people who swear the sky is green and clearly can't or don't want to be reasoned with. Often times, observations, points, , etc are made more for those who read the boards in the process of forming their own opinions, but never comment, rather than for the benefit of the commentators. It is my opinion that we're at an inflection point. What happens next could very well determine whether or not this team can ever compete at the highest levels again, or at least during many of our lifetimes.

I agree with everything in your post,

Not exactly.

Richt is stubborn. Proud. Takes offence easily. Gets defensive - quickly. He's all about image. He cherishes his image - even if it's largely in his own mind.

This weakness - can be exploited.

It's embarrassing to see banners flown prior to EVERY game - it's embarrassing to the coach, it's embarrassing to the University - and believe me - the Administration and BOT are NOT going to like this very negative publicity to continue.

Truly, it's a low-rent tactic - but it's a tactic that cumulatively gets a lot of attention quickly - and I guarantee - steps will be taken to put a stop to the negative publicity to the University.

And for Richt - the calling out for his firing - really puts a lot of pressure on him - it's embarrassing, it's frustrating to a coach, and it spotlights exactly where the problem is. When you know that thousands and thousands of folks are seeing these banners - not just at home games - but also away games - you quickly become a laughing stock.

When confronted with a difficult tactical situation - use what your opponent gives you - and you hit at your opponent's weak spots.

Richt's pride is his weakness.

Banners strike at his pride. He will be anxious to make a deal - and negotiate his way out of the contract extension allotments much more quickly than just trying to fire him.

It's called "softening up the target."

Pound, pound, pound, and pound. That always makes negotiations more favorable for your side.

Endorsed.

He won't budge. Don't set yourself up for disappointment and expect anything to change.

I have no idea what terms are in Rick’s contract when it comes to hiring and firing assistants, but if UM didn’t give him complete autonomy in that regard, the power move would be for the school to hire a guy like Tom Jurich as a consultant to hire an OC. Then, tell Rickety to work out the staff numbers and that he will no longer be calling plays. If Rick decides to quit then no buyout.

Tactical Archer is on the money

would add ... go hard at the Jon as QBC angle w precision strikes on social media. Hit up the BOT and Prez as to why this incompetent nepotism was allowed to begin with.

All I know is that USCw just set the house on fire and got rid of everyone besides the head man in yr 3. I doubt we even have smoke come from our coaching staff
Why on Earth would you blow up the whole staff and keep Clay Felchin? Makes no sense. Maybe he’s got dirt on Swann.

Three years in. Who is responsible for recruiting and coaching the QB’s?

You can spin it any way you want to make yourself feel “smart” and let you sleep at night thinking those who hold the coaches accountable are “reactionary” or “don’t know football”, but failure is failure is failure. Doesn’t matter how you slice it or scapegoat it, the arrow of failure always eventually leads to either Richt and his son, or Richt and Searles, or all of the above. No matter how you slice it, the offensive product on the field has gotten worse each year they’ve been here and has reached completely unacceptable levels of “proficiency”.

Failure is failure is failure.

Thank you!

LOL. Probably, boss. Allegedly Swann really likes him. I think he was Swann's first hire, if I'm not mistaken. Plus Clay has been around for minute.

Word around SC is Swann isn’t gonna be there for much longer. Just a weird move. But Kingsbury would be smart to take that job. Deep pockets and tons of recruits with speed. Hmm sound familiar?

I get the feeling that richt is under the impression he can do what he wants, and the admin isn’t going to pressure him.

It’s as if when Blake was wooing him, he was coming from a place of weakness, and told richt he can run the team as he wants with no interference.
Exactly!!! He is in charge of the program and he will do what he wants. He is going to make zero changes so we are screwed! Btw Searles will be back next year.
