The Only Lesson Mario Needs to Learn from This Season

The lesson he needs to learn is to stop losing games to double digit ACC underdogs.

That's it.

Whatever needs to change for that to happen is what elevates us to top 5 status and perennial top 10.
He needs to get out of his own way with his ego and wanting to simply overpower teams with A gap runs and control the clock. All you do is drain the clock limit possesions and let a team (a double digit dog) hang around if you don’t finish drives with TDs or you are penalty riddled…. Get it to the late 4th with a chance to win it with a score.

Your OC is paid handsomely to game plan, scheme, and create mismatches that keep defenses off balance

You have one of the best NIL war chests and will always seem to have playmakers and a QB who can get them the ball. You and your best friend will ensure they have an Oline that will work

I hate that he had to learn the hard way, but as long as he learned that caveman **** is not going to work, then so be it.

It never made sense though. He spent a rumored 4 million on a QB to play in the air raid, but for most of the year only let him snap the ball 3 times every 2 minutes in an O that didn't use spacing.

I just hope he remembers how much of a difference style points made and he doesn't fall right back into his ball control comfort zone next season.

Beat the living **** out of everyone for 4Qs. Brutalize them. No more going conservative and just trying to hold on in the second half and at the end of games
Bingo. There is no grace in victory, humility etc. I feel like Mario is a principled person and we saw that many times the past few years. All out the window now.

It amazes me how many people didnt do their homework on Shannon Dawson when we hired him. The fact that everything Houston fans said about Shannon Dawson were seeing now is no coincidence. The constant running the ball up the middle. the lack of creativity, the getting conservative late in games. They warned us about all of it, im not the biggest fan of Mario but im not going to blame him for "meddling" in the offense when he's not.

He needs to stay the **** out of the offense besides OL. Not that it would have stayed that way, but we had the #1 offense in college in Mario's 1st season with TVD until the bye week after week 4. Then changing to inside zone and TVD ruined it. This season his decision's hurt the offense from week 1. Besides this and game day decisions I am mostly very happy with Mario. My only complaint with the team right now, knock on wood we get in the playoff, run some tempo, please. 30 seconds to snap the ball every play is killing me, killing me. Let's go, coach.
Stop it , thats just who Shannon Dawson is. What really happened is teams got tape on us after and we didnt adjust. Georgia tech was the first team we ran into that year that set out to stop our passing game instead of our run game and we had no answer for their heavy zone defense. They got to see what we did to A&M who tried to play us man and said the heck with that

So you are saying we just need to beat the crap out of every team team for 4 quarters...... oh, now I Understand

BTW - - the 2001 Miami Hurricanes - top team in CFM history - very easily could have lost TWO games

We were up 21-7 v ND in the third. Should have kept being aggressive, if we blow ND out we're prob ahead of them right now.

No. Would still be irrelevant. The committee doesn't care whether we won by 100 or by 1. For all intents and purposes, they think game 1 doesn't count because Notre Dame is a "different team" now.

I’ve always felt when coaches stop coaching and call off the dogs the players will start doing it on their own. In many ways this was one of Larry Coker‘s biggest flaws. He would call off the dogs too early. The Boston College game in 2001 was an off day, but coasting nearly cost Miami the Virginia Tech game. We had a 20-3 halftime lead and thought that was enough. Imagine if we lost that game not gone to the Rose Bowl for the national championship.

You could see this from Larry Coker in game one against Penn State. 30-0 halftime lead and win 33-7. I’m not in favor of running up the score for the purpose of embarrassing your opponent, usually, but like JJ and Mario would tell you, it’s not their job to stop the offense. That’s your job as the defense.

If you stop playing hard and maybe we’ll slow down and get the game with over quicker.

Call a timeout with a couple minutes left down 31-7? Watch the ball go up top for another touchdown.

Talking to you, Narduzzi.
