The Ole Miss Thread

They are beat up and just won their Super Bowl. They will party all week and be the kings of Oxford for slaying the dragon.

Miami needs to stay focused and punish them next week

I read an article today about the possibility of Lane taking his bat home and not allowing his staph coach against us next week. Five of their Coaches/Assistants are on the offense so they may be coaching with GA's. Goulding was their DC until last week.

31-21 and Mali reminds everyone how good he is with a big game

Lacy is really good. Can Chambliss play the game of his life 2 weeks in a row? Our CB depth is def a bit of a concern if both OJ and DB are out

think there's a few outcomes where we jump on them early and they just tap out and we win by 3 scores+

OSU made some nice adjustments at half . Going bigger and more 12 personnel . Which allowed te’s and rb’s to slow down our pass rush. It also was a threat to going max protection which would slowed down blitzes for fear of getting hit up top. Ole Miss isn’t capable of this , it’s nit their style . They’re all about space and tempo. The cb injuries is my biggest fear and them having some things in common with UL and SMU. Now Oregon and Indiana is capable of the adjustments OSU made.
How would you have countered the bigger personnel?

We dominated OSU for 80% of that game

My only concern with us is the same concern I’ve had all year

We leave a lot of points on the field

At some point we have to figure that out when an offense challenges our defense. I think that team is Indiana personally but it could happen this week as well

We haven’t see our offense play an A game yet which is concerning but also to me means we haven’t seen our best football either which should scare other teams
Our offense played an A game not in the playoffs though and that was Pitt. Beck put on a clinic.

Went back watching the Ole Miss Florida game and they left lots of points on the field. 2 failed 4th and goals, a TD called back for ineligible man downfield. And pretty much outphysicaled Florida in the trenches although they did give up a few sacks. Keionte as a blitzer will be key and our LBs need to step up and stop Lacy. Need big games from Toure and Bissainthe

Chamblss is Ijust too good, he’ll present a bigger challenge than all of Ohio State’s first round talent combined. What can you do?
What was the name of the Houston QB that got caught on camera asking to come out of the game because we hit him much?

IU just hammered Simpson so hard he opted out at half time. Let's do that.

Chambliss is no Marcel Reed as a runner; but he's a lot better passer. As you stated, we will shut down Lacy. They ain't scoring 40 points, half that if they're lucky!
Chambliss is just as good if not better a runner as Reed. He has more yards rushing and more Tds and he didnt start the year as starter.. He is a true dual threat

Agreed they not scoring 40, thats crazy

Limiting Ole Miss's explosive plays will be key for the defense. Since Chambliss took over they have 63 20+ yard plays against FBS teams, nearly 6 per game. They do an elite job getting TDs on drives with explosives averaging 5.5 pts/drive, getting a TD 67% of the time. They have scored a ton of 20+ yard TDs this year.

Our defense has given up 41 20+ yard plays in 13 FBS games (3.2/g) and just 15 in our last 6 (2.5/g). What's been so extraordinary over our last 6 games is on drives we give up an explosive we are only giving up 2.4 net pts/drive.

With our injuries at outside corner and their depth at WR we should expect to give up some explosive plays to them. Just need to not them score directly off them, then hold them to FGA/punt or force a turnover or intercept the ball and run 70 yards for a TD (thank Keionte).
