The Ole Miss Thread

I appreciate what you doing here. I think there's a degree of truth to it, many of us are probably taking Ole Miss a little bit lighter than we should. However that is a very beatable team and not one that particularly scares me. We have a lot of advantages. For them it comes down to a tricky offensive scheme and that QB playing perfectly. I'll take it.
Im not taking them light at all. The 4th quarter of the FSU game shows j what can happen of they simply just start chucking it up and the QB is running around. Our offense running game is gonna have to come to play. We could get up 14-17 and it still not be safe. This will be a battle. Takeaways will be really a gamechanger

If UGA-Ole Miss played next weekend, you betting money on UGA getting a fumble scoop TD?

No, just as I wouldn’t bet money on UGA accidentally snapping the ball on 4th and 2 at their own 33 in the 4th quarter. It gave Ole **** a short field and they scored a TD to go up 10. The lucky bounces and bad breaks are basically a wash. UGA got 7 on a scoop and score, lost 7 on an accidental snap. Either way UGA was 3 yards from winning at the end of the game.

Bottom line- Either opponent would be tough. They both made it this far. I just much prefer playing the one with the bad rush defense as Miamis formula is running the ball and controlling the clock.

They are beat up and just won their Super Bowl. They will party all week and be the kings of Oxford for slaying the dragon.

Miami needs to stay focused and punish them next week

I think one thing being overlooked for those who didnt watch Ole Miss a lot this year and just assume Lane was throwing the ball 50 times a game, they actually rely on the run A LOT Lacey is the engine that a lot of times makes that offense hum. Yes the QB did have to throw 50 times against UGA with Lacey a bit banged up but that is not their normal makeup....

Chambliss threw the ball 408 times this season, Beck threw it 398, Chambliss did have 300 more yards but 6 less tds and 7 less INT (he really doesnt turn it over)

Their top WR had 57 catches, Toney is at 94. Second best WR 50 catches, Marion had 49, third best had 43, daniels had 42.

However I think this stat will shock people more. 295 carries for Lacy for 23 RUSHING touchdowns vs 177 carries and 10 tds for Fletch. Almost 300 carries in a season is INSANE. Their next leading rusher is the QB with 128 carries then Logan Diggs with 29 carries (for comparison Marty Brown has 105 carries followed by Pringle for 62 and Lyle 35)

I agree.
Analytic models tend to have the game as a coin flip.
Any team you’re a coin flip game against, is beatable.
My friend they sitting over there petrified about what our trenches are about to do to them. They just watched us ice a game against the defending champions by running straight down their throats when they knew we were doing it vs a generational defense.

And they got the 68th run D.

Again- they will be fresh because they will only play 8-9 defensive series. Miami will control the line of scrimmage and chew up the clock. We are built exactly for this type of game. After two bruising games against physical teams ,I am glad we get ole ****.
Oregons OL is hot garbage.

Sitting in Pasadena this morning, I know the rock fight we'd be in for the next week.

There's only one other team with our philosophy of violent complementary football and they're coached by Heatherman's former boss.

This is really good insight.

We dominated OSU for 80% of that game

My only concern with us is the same concern I’ve had all year

We leave a lot of points on the field

At some point we have to figure that out when an offense challenges our defense. I think that team is Indiana personally but it could happen this week as well

We haven’t see our offense play an A game yet which is concerning but also to me means we haven’t seen our best football either which should scare other teams
This is still a problem for us.

This is probably the right thread for this...

Ole Miss is not good. You guys will crush them. Honestly, I really don't think it will be close. You are so much better along both lines. Have you seen Ole Miss scores? The SEC is obviously down and Ole Miss struggled all season with it. I like Chambliss. I think he is a playmaker, but I don't think it will be enough. I honestly think this has something like 38-17 written all over it. That said, I was really impressed with the Ole Miss kicker. I think the title game will be a good one, but I don't see anyone in this field on the level of Miami, tbh. Oh, for a Miami/ND rematch for the title. That would have been epic!

Briles system relies on some running, sideways safe quick throws, and then tossing it deep

UGA lost vs Ole Miss because they didn't persist in what Ole Miss sucks at doing. Ole Miss STINKS at stopping the run. They are atrocious. Frazier (UGA RB) was straight hammering those dudes. 5-8 yards at a time. But for some dumb ******* reason, he only had 15 carries. UGA was up 21-12 at the half. We all know Mario. Chambliss aint getting that ball at all in the 3rd quarter. Mario is going to hammer them with Fletcher, Pringle, and Brown. Fletcher, Pringle, and Brown. Fletcher, Pringle, and Brown. Over and over and over again. UGA and Smart didn't commit to Frazier.
