The Ole Miss Thread

In a social media post, Kiffin said the Ole Miss administration denied his request "despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance." Some Ole Miss players disputed Kiffin's statement on social media.

After the Rebels knocked off the Bulldogs to win the second CFP game in school history, senior defensive tackle Zxavian Harris said Kiffin was again trying to steal the spotlight from one of the greatest teams in Ole Miss history.

Harris said Kiffin's abrupt departure from Ole Miss in the middle of a CFP run was like a "slap in the face."

"Like a slap and the backhand," Harris said. "He was trying to be a troll. We're going to troll him. We got something for him."

Draft kings has us 3 point favorite
They said last night on ESPN that UGA had won, we were going to be a 3-point dog. Interesting.

I would think we match up better with Georgia, but apparently, some feel there would have been a mental hurdle element present for Beck in playing that game.

believe everyone knows Kevin Smith just coached here yet additionally George McDonald, who is going to LSU, is the WR coach for Ole Miss.

Coached WRs under Fisch in the Golden era.

Psycho will have our defense ready and this defense has wrecked two good offenses lately. Mario is locked in and the team also seems to be locked in. Just down play down to our competitors. Promised land is in sight but we better not lose focus bc we will lose if we do

Their defensive and offensive coordinators are still there and they just beat Ga. Put down whatever you are smoking.
You make this statement like we sorry or something? We JMU now my ninja!? Ain't nobody scared of a coachless ole pi$$. They gotta be scared of us, THEY need to prepare for the Boogeyman! Thats who we are now moving forward.

It’s hilarious that the single rule change they made ( a single portal window from January 2nd to January 12th ) somehow made the new landscape even more of a traffic jam mixed with a car crash.

What a ****** mess. What makes it worse is that this ten day pre-spring portal run isn’t even going to be solidified. We have nba draft picks entering college and they think they will be able to stop agents and players from transferring in May/June/July? They’re outta their minds lol
I mean **** Mario just had a kid completely disregard the portal last January.

The more I think about it the more I like Saban's idea of having the portal be in May after school ends and then 2 weeks of practice after that. Takes away alot of this chaos at this critical time in the season. Maybe Saban's voice is important enough for someone to listen.

Yeah I like that idea better — post spring rather than post winter — but tbh I don’t think that can hold either.

Kids are going to want to transfer to practice w/ their new teams in the spring. Obviously mad money is being thrown around but getting to your new school a semester early has tons of benefits.

The two portal periods was madness but this Ole Miss-LSU ordeal had like a 1% chance of happening & it is knocking down the house of cards that is the ten day, one portal period in the heart of the playoffs.

I think transfers are going to have to be limited like scholarships. Because players’ freedom of movement can’t be restricted; my best recommendation is each team has 12-18 per year or something like that. Makes it more concrete. Even this proposal prob has a ton of unintended consequences.

It’s very tough to envision a solution that can holdup without Congressional support, and Congressional support seems extremely far away atm. Im not saying Congressional support will necessarily be good; I am saying that it will make the rules actually enforceable; additionally, possibly curtail the frequency of transfers as well as renegotiating of contracts

Between that and ESPN already pushing the Indiana Disney movie storyline, we have the chance to crush both Cinderella stories. I couldn’t think of a better way to declare the U is both here and back.
Now we have to win out. Any team left can beat us as we can beat them. I much prefer Ole Miss. Beck can focus on just football and not his old team. The Georgia Coaches are pros and have 3 years of tape on Beck. Thank God we won’t play them.

100% my thought process when I woke up today and saw that Ole Miss won. We seem mentally prepared for this but didn't want narratives or to face a team that has been here and done this consistently.

Do not run the same defensive scheme we ran against Louisville/smu. Also be ready to rotate your lineman early and often . Get tds not field goals on offense

They are 50th in yppa, 84th in ypca, 28th in ypaa, 64th in ypcompletiona.

Their defense stinks
Indeed but they can still beat us. We need our A game. No turnovers minimal drive killing penalties. I’m still speechless we had a fat zero in penalties against Ohio. Be relentless.
