The Ole Miss Thread

If anyone has a sub and wants to see some of the most braindead posts you’ll ever see:

Hope the ol miss team thinks the same way

they played a much stronger schedule - they played only SEC teams. to those SEC kool aide drinkers nothing is harder than an SEC schedule.
Yes, SEC, SEC, SEC. 6 of their 7 regular season conference wins were in the bottom half of the conference. Only team with a winning conference record was OU. Their OOC schedule was embarrassingly bad. But again, somebody needs to tell the SEC homers that conference has been exposed. I really hope we boatrace them to destroy their narrative. That's my gut here and I'm typically cautious.

I started watching their games yesterday, and let me tell you… they sure as **** call a ton of quick passes. DBs better tackle as well as they have all season.

I wasn’t surprised by almost anything TAMU did. ****, I can tell you when they ran that same play Fitz picked off earlier in the year (South Carolina on a critical 3rd down). I watched every snap of their season and they mostly stuck with what they had previously done, though they ran Reed less than I thought they would. Should we expect to be surprised by something new from Ole Miss? Should we expect Trinidad to run a bit more than TAMU tried with Reed?
I think Weiss will have a lot of shot we havnt seen yet for us to deal with

I’m kinda leaning to mario tough and phizical ball being the way. Control time of possession to not let them have the ball and run tempo. Contain chambliss
Ole **** run defense is not that great. They are goin to sell out to stop the run, similar to Louisville.

Beck is going to need to be efficient and make plays in the passing game IMO.

I see Toney having a big game.

Ole Miss only averages 6 more points than we do. Given the fast pace they play and the number of possessions they get, I'd expect a bigger difference. Strange.

Am I wrong with this but;

Its been shown that our great pass rush can be neutralized by quick throws and high tempo

Maybe this is the game dare I say, no pun or coincidence, that Miami doesn't play defense to its strength and we just rush 3, drop more in coverage like Penn St did to us in the 86-87 Fiesta?

It might prevent the backyard style of offense they want to play
We didn’t lose a single game because of defense. In those losses, the D only gave up 20 & 24 pts (or so) in regulation.

The issue was offense… and I believe those issues are solved.

Imma jump in this thread. To me, if Miami wins this matchup we are going to win number 6.

We are not losing a national title game at home.

DGAF if it’s Indiana or Oregon. The whole city about to be out for this one.

And it’s on MLK day man. Them folks from Indiana and Oregon ain’t gone know what to do when they see them box chevys, gold teeth.

We not losing the NC at home. I’m not even going to read all the pre-NC analysis if we make it there.

WE NOT LOSING AT HOME.

Now this game….idfk let’s just go get the W

Mario needs to play the mental games Saban used to. Make the team feel disrespected and how ole miss is in their way. Keep them super focused like they haven accomplished anything. Need to light a fire under them to come out and punish ole miss and make them quit.
The coaches don’t have to say a thing.
These players are disciplined and are ready physically and mentally.
Just listen to the things Mauigoa, Bain and Scott say in their interviews and speeches and mic’ed up sideline moments.
They are doing what old Canes teams used to do. Step up and lead like men.

Ohhh GIF

Just saw a good point.

Ole Miss had BOTH playoff games vs. a team they had already seen in the regular season. Pre scout. Pre broke down. Had all the answers before playing again.

We are a new team.

That's actually a really great point. It has been a bit of a mystery how they can be surviving all this attrition to the coaching staffs, especially with game prep, but I never thought about that.

I think a lot of fans are looking at the highlights and box score, and didn’t watch the game. UGA is a worse version of Miami. The main reason they lost is Smart went brain dead and they made unbelievably bad calls.

The most obvious is the 4th and 2 from their own 33 with 9:40 to go in the 4th. This one was actually a mental mistake by the center. He wasn’t supposed to snap the ball. I don’t know what he was thinking. Smart said after the game the ball wasn’t supposed to be snapped. Stockton wasn’t ready for it and it ended up making it a 10 pt game.

The anemic UGA offense still drove down the field and scored in under 2 minutes to come within 3. And then they forced a 3 and out on this “juggernaut” offense, then got a field goal to tie it up. But this was again one of the worst cases of clock management you will ever see. If UGA runs the ball on 3rd down and doesn’t get the TD, they kick a FG with 10-15 seconds left on the clock. It took around 35 seconds for Ole **** to get into FG range. Virtual certainty the game goes to OT if UGA runs the ball on 3rd down. Would Ole **** won in OT? Maybe, but personally I doubt it.

As it stands, UGA did everything it could to give the game to Ole ****, was on the verge of winning, but finally succeeded in giving them a W with under a minute through horrible clock management and one mistake after another. Miami can do everything UGA can do, only without the mental errors.

Based on the Ole ****-UGA game I still think UGA would have been the tougher opponent because it would be our 3rd rock fight in a row. Ole Miss is a finesse team and its success depends largely on the opponent shooting itself in the foot repeatedly. I don’t think we will so I think we win by a bigger margin than a lot of Miami fans expect.
Wow, haha.

I recommend you guys rewatch their playoff game against UGA. I mean really pay attention to when they have the ball. You’ll notice something and when you see it, you won’t be able to unsee it in every one of their games.

All of their scoring drives involve an explosive play. If there isn’t one, they don’t score. They have not methodically moved the ball down the field on almost anyone. Watch or scroll through all of their offensive possessions all season since Chambliss took over. It’s all you see.
