Got to think that OSU are going to try to neutralize our advantage on the DLine with quick passes. Trust Hetherman to come up with gameplan to eliminate their run game and take away JS and CL and see if they can beat us with their 3 or 4th wr.

They were extremely conservative with Sayin making his first start. Bo Jackson got zero carries too. I don't think they took the IU game very seriously, while IU certainly did.

UW and Michigan were there next two lowest scoring games. I'd look to those games and seek to improve on them. If we can hold OSU to closer to 5 YPP and create more havoc plays (OSU only turned the ball over twice and Sayin was sacked just once in those two games), we should be able to limit them to 17-24 points.

What? They aren't going to take an undefeated team in a championship game seriously? Stop

OSU is obviously very good and thanks to Indiana, they showed us theirs a ***** in the armor. Also, let's not take for granted OSU's last game will be 4.5 weeks ago. This is set up for an upset

The game didn't matter. OSU was getting a bye win or lose. I don't think there's much to take away from that game.

You're right on the long layoff. That's something we can and hopefully do take advantage of.

Lol where do you get that from that they didn’t care about the game?

Are there quotes like what the Pitt head coach said about the Notre dame game not mattering? Did they rest certain starters?

Did they not care that a loss would put them in a worse seeding therefore making their run to repeat slightly more difficult?

No I don't think they did. They got the #2 seed. After they lost. I don't understand why it's controversial to say that a game between #1&2 was meaningless, because when #1 lost they became #2 and still got a bye?

Try this thought experiment: If OSU plays IU for the title who are you taking? Me, I am betting a completely irresponsible amount of money on OSU. (Obviously this better not happen cause that means OSU beats us)

Those are different questions. You said “there was not much to take away from that game.”

I disagree. I think your point about OSU being favored against IU if they played in the title AND there are some things Miami can glean from their conference championship game (my point) can both be true.

If they had rested everyone or even just J Smith I would agree with you.
 
If Tallahassee is now Malahassee, and College Station is now Mala Station, does that mean that we're going to Mallas for NYE?

Except they have ended up on the far tougher side of the bracket. I believe they have the infrastructure and inside knowledge to know they wanted that 1 seed so they could dodge Miami/ND and the better SEC teams

Fair point.

I think the biggest takeaway from that game is that OSU's OL can be leaky in pass pro against a good pass rush (like we have in spades). Sayin had only been sacked 6 times before that game. IU sacked him 5 times.

I do think we (and our coaches more importantly) would be better served focusing on games other than the IU game when devising a plan against OSU. That was the strangest 1 vs 2 matchup I have ever seen, since the only consequence to losing was some deck shuffling within the top 4. Granted OSU played their starters the whole game, but I don't think they took that game very seriously.

Not putting in maximal effort to stop the threat that Cignetti and a well-financed Indiana operation represents to Ohio States preeminence i that region would be incredibly foolish.

TAMU, UF, ND and Louisville's D's have gotten us ready for this game. I think OSU's D will be tough, but I don't think it will be markedly more difficult than the one we just faced AND the wind won't be blowing.

OSU has more projected 1st rounder on their defense than all of those teams combined in DT McDonald, LB Reese, DB Downs, and and LB Styles.

ND is probably closest to their talent...at DB. OSU's front 7 is better by a wide margin.

Day and the team wanted that game and it was maximum effort. It's about hardware and we had not won the Big Ten championship since 2020. However, it was not an ideal week of prep leading up to the Indiana game since Day had to put out fires elsewhere. News leaked that Hartline was leaving for USF on signing day, which jeopardized the Chris Henry signing (among others) and Day and co. had to scramble and focus on closing Henry and others when it should've been a smooth signing day. Further, Hartline had divided focus, as he had to balance game prep with everything that goes with being announced as head coach that week. In a week when you didn't want to have any distractions in game prep, there were plenty. Indiana had a great defensive game plan, Mendoza was clutch when he needed to be, and Ohio State didn't execute when they had the chances in the red zone. Hats off to Indiana, they played a great game and earned that win. I do like our chances in a rematch if that comes to fruition.

Looking forward to our game. Miami's front 7 is elite and Bain is a stud. I think it is going to be another slugfest like your last game and our last game against Indiana. I would expect/hope expect Day to spread it out and hit short stuff to negate that nasty pass rush, which opens up some shots. We are not going to have success running the ball at your front 7. On the flip side, I like how our defense matches up against your offense.
