The Ohio State Thread

Chip Kelly ? If this was the old playoffs they wouldn’t have been in because of chip Kelly and him trying to out physical Michigan.

They should have won when UGA knocked out MH2. Chip Kelly was lucky it was a 12 team playoff after the Michigan game that’s all that happened. He had the most talented team with a bunch of starters returning,

Chip Kelly is ***, it’s not 2014.
I wouldn’t expect you to understand so yes enjoy your day

And now their OC took a HC job. Who is calling plays?
I don’t even think Hartline was really calling plays. It was a move to keep him around. Looks like Days offense to me

Howard and Kelly were a really nice combination last year. They’ve still got a **** ton of talent of course but it’s not the same type of team

Expecting a 10-6 game so it’ll probably be like 37-34 of course

Good news is Sayin isn’t going to be running around trying to be Mike Vick…

Bad news is Sayin isn’t going to miss wide open WRs all day like Reed…

He’s not, but his near total lack of mobility is a big deal. You saw A&M picking up some 1st downs they otherwise wouldn’t have without Reed’s feet.

The gameplan against OSU is going to be a lot different. You’ll probably see a lot more man coverage, and obviously it will free up our backer some not having to spy the QB.

Toney should’ve been used more as a decoy and we should’ve done more of what was working, but Toney was huge in a game in which the plan was to limit him. Game winning TD huge punt return. He did plenty
Toney had 5 rec for 22 yards. We got away with it Saturday but best believe teams will follow this blueprint.

I like your idea of using him more a decoy to set up other players. Teams are basically saying they are not going to allow Toney to beat them.

Their offensive coordinator is planning the portal and his first HC job on the side. Something tells me that distraction will not help the suckeyes

I put this image on my old OSU buddy on his Facebook status below last night:

Kinda funny how we just literally had the same situation with Klein right?

What we found against Texas A&M is that despite being the best freshman in America, Malachi Toney is not “HIM” yet. He will be one day tho.

When a defense schemes specifically to take him away, he’s not at the stage of his career where he can still completely take over a game. He’s a freshman and expecting him at this point to beat a defensive coordinator’s full game plan by himself just isn’t realistic.

This really falls more on the coaching staff. If teams are going to load up and scheme for Malachi, then the offense has to make other guys productive.

Until defenses are forced to pay for focusing on Malachi, they’re going to keep doing it. I anticipate Ohio state scheming him out the offense the same way A&M did.

We have to find other ways to get guys involved. To me that is one of the keys to the game.
I think the wind more than anything helped the Aggies limit Toneys production. Also Dawson's play calling was too inconsistent with too much gadgetry. Credit to A&M for getting the result they needed in that regard but I don't think it was an indictment on Toneys ability entirely.

And you just saw Lupoi at Oregon have their worst defensive game of the season.

On the other hand, UGA won the NC in the 2021 season after Lanning had taken the Oregon job.
Right I mean it’s probably just coincidence but interesting discussion I suppose
