No point in asking or expecting people raise their hands on calling themselves out. People will twist and qualify what they said earlier in the season and throughout. This board was out for Manny's head. Plain and simple. And, there were reasonable concerns. At the time, I thought they were too extreme and said so. I kinda feel like they're going to go too extreme in his favor now, too.
It's not really trying to play both sides; more like just accepting his work for what it's been and what it can be: he's been a wildly aggressive guy who depends on certain things happening for his playcalls to work. What he's become infinitely more impressive at doing is adjusting consistently. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But, ****, at least there's continuous adjustment.
Perhaps that's a low bar, some will say. I think it's the ultimate judge of modern coaches: do they recognize strengths and weaknesses and quickly adjust? Our yards/play, how we've performed against opponents relative to their season averages, and primarily his 3rd down conversion % turnaround all speak for themselves. Even with a couple overpursuits and a missed tackle on the edge, today was perhaps the defense's most impressive 4 quarter display.
Diaz gave designed several front looks that I've not seen him do in his 3 years in Miami. Pitt's OL and Pickett were absolutely lost and it led to a couple of sacks.
