Butch Davis: "Recruiting. It's a lot of fun. It's unbelievably competitive, and it's gotten even more competitive over the past couple decades and years. Recruiting has been and always will be the lifeblood of college programs. If you cannot recruit and cannot bring in guy that not only can develop, but are talented enough, you really don't have a chance to win championships. You can't win the SEC. You can't win a national championship unless you've got guys who can recruit."

"It encompasses everybody. Clearly, it's the head coach, but he's got to have a good group of assistants that can go out and build relationships with parents, high school coaches, and the kids. It's not an easy process, but it's one I do miss."

"There's always been a bit of "Who's the next young up-and-coming guy? The one thing that's definitely proven is people who have a great track record are going to have success. You just give them an opportunity and support them, put them in a position to build a staff and program."

"Most of those guys, we've seen a lot of ways to skin a cat. Being part of Jimmy Johnson's staff, building the program at Oklahoma State, going to Miami, and doing the Dallas Cowboys thing where you go 1-15, and then win three Super Bowls. You see a lot of ways to do it. It just takes the right Athletic Director and the right search committee of people who want to win and do it with integrity and honesty. Hopefully, I'll get another opportunity."

I'm 1000000% on the BBB train....

But just for discussion, What if we overhauled our defensive staff like this:

Jim Leavitt - DC/linebacker coach

Kevin Patrick - DLine coach

Hurlie Brown - Safeties coach

Mike Rumph - Cornerbacks coach

Is this a better defensive staff than what we currently have? If we can't have Butch and the admin is **** bent on keeping Golden, I think something like this may be the best we can do..

Better? Yes. Would it make a difference? No.

I don't think people should buy into the admin is **** bent on keeping Golden. Thats a narrative being put out there by a few that want Golden to stay. If what some of the insiders say is true, then there is more division about Golden than what we are being led to believe.
