In the 2000 season that all the Butchtards point to as his high-water mark, Booch took the most talented team in the history of college football and lost to an overmatched UW team that Coker beat 66-3 the following year. Then, he allowed horrible La Tech to hang around against us, which caused us to lose our spot in the 2000 NC game because margin of victory was a big component of the title game formula back then.

Some key points: Lost 5 straight to semenholes, lost 5 straight to flubberneck, got face raped by Donovan McNabb 66-13, and the worst was the horrible loss to the ECU buttpirates where Clinton Portis was unveiled as a future superstar. Booch pulled him at the end when he was unstoppable and told the press Portis told him he was tired and asked to be pulled, which Portis denied. And how often did he pull out the sanctions excuse. We didn't lose all those game because of sanctions. He eventually won because he recruited and analyzed talent very well. He also had a staff that almost exclusively in the NFL now. But as a coach for 5 years he lost games because he was a BAD COACH. Times have changed. With the bags and the SEC rampaging South Florida you had better be able to recruit AND coach.

Bring Back Butch Davis.

He had some bad losses, but he was also a much younger and inexperienced coach than Richt. He got better.
Richt is Richt, stale, lose several games a year, get blasted by good teams and beat the sorry teams.

Correct. People complain about Richt's game day coaching, but then they claim that they want Butch back. Funny how a lot of these same people referred to him as "Botch" in 2000 on Grassy. The Butch supporters were the underwhelming minority in those days.

to be fair, take Butch's last 2 years here, anything prior to that is just crazy, all the sanctions, lost ships, etc Once he got the players he was a pretty good coach, great no, but good. I would also like to point out he seems to be able to get assistants that can coach, unlike Mork, Butch's boys went pro, you really think we have an NFL coach on staff now. You think the NFL may holler at Mork, **** no they know he's lame, you cant beat UVA with all that talent why would NFL look at you, but boy they jumped on Butch. Why do people on this board ASSUME Butch has not learned anything about coaching since his first gig, thats stupidity at its finest. Mork has coached what 15 years, and still cant coach, NFL backs that

so your thinking in 18 years he has not gotten any better, sure your not thinking of Mork, that fits him perfect. Butch didnt learn anything all the years in NFL ? winning super bowls ? you cant be serious, nobody is that dumb

This isn't about Rick. It's about Botch. And I knew I would hear sanctions before too long. He had plenty of talent in '98 when they had all of those horrific losses we just weren't deep. And he'd better thank the heavens for the hurricane that year because if we had played UCLA early in the season it would have been another major beatdown. Nobody here is saying Rick is the greatest coach. I don't see one person posting he's Bear Bryant. But if he does decide to retire there's a lot of coaches better than Botch we could hire. He never won sh*t. And why would you want a guy who bailed on the program before we were about to reach the mountaintop? Reminds me of our yearly departures of undrafted dolts who leave us too early only to get cut a few months later.

What Super Bowls did he win? When he was JJ's fluffer? Look at this...24-35. That's HIS record in the NFL. That's from when he was in charge.

I look at the Washington game we lost as a good example. The offensive and defensive gameplans where not working so they changed them in the second half and almost came back to win the game. Washington finished the year with 1 loss and was a top 5 team that year. Yet we competed with them and came close. I felt Butch grew up some and made good game adjustments that game. Other examples include the firing of Miller/hiring Schiano, bringing in Moffit, utilizing track scholarships, and the wins against OSU, UCLA, FSU, and Florida. Butch was growing his team, both by recruiting and getting good assistants onboard. That is what a CEO does.

I would have told them to go F themselves as well, offering up that chump change after he had just done the impossible, and with Clev waiving millions at him. You gonna say you would have stayed i guess ? And for Christ's sake it was the dude first gig, Mork been doing this 15 years and still sucks, explain that, Butch today is better than Mork today, simply because Mork does the same stupid thing over and over and over and expects a different result, i think thats the very definition of stupid. Again, this isn't about Rick. Nobody is here defending him. It's about Botch. But apparently you can't have a logical opinion of him when his pud is fully inserted into your mouth.
