The Next DC

I had no idea Kirk coached under Richt at uga. Makes complete sense.

That last name makes me cringe.

Yeah me too. Never was a fan of his Dad.

Not even as the DC of the 1983 national championship team?

Well he must have peaked there because he sucked afterwards.

Or, he was a good college coach and a bad NFL one? It tends to happen.

KO did a excellent job with UGA linebackers when there. He coached up Alec Ogletree, Jarvis Jones, and Justin Houston. Also recruited Ramik Wilson from Tampa, and Amarlo Herrera. All who are playing in the league now

LOL at hiring a coach away from UNC????

Fedora was rumored to VPI and USCe. He was already trying to bail himself

Obviously since he hasn't been named..Our next DC is still working.. Question / Poll. .is he coaching in the College or NFL ranks?

You may have more insight on this than anybody UknowWhat. Has Richt made mention to you or Shaq who the new DC may be? I obviously wouldn't ask for a name but do you know who it is and if so would you consider the hire a homerun?
Don't know..bit I asked... His reply was it will be some one that can run the defensive side on his own...since he will be dedicated to the O

Uuuhhhmmm Every time Coach Richt sees Shaq he talks about how much Shaq reminds him of Ogletree...KO was Ogletree's coach...is that reaching for a clue... ok it is...but i want to know and growing tired of the anticipation...patience is a virtue...good thing I'm not King Hurricane i would have made the wrong hire a few weeks ago..it would not have been a bad hire but patience aided in a better hire

Would you be upset with Dave Aranda? I'm just asking cause I think I read you preferred 4-3 but Shaq was committed when No'D was still coach so does it matter?

We are getting an excellent DC. The position coaches we got so far .... Seems confirmatory

SEC position coaches must be familiar w his awesomeness based on Kuligowski and Raymond

Probably at a school without as much talent and without enough money for assistants.

Probably is presently underpaid ($700,000 to be exact)

Tried to get his DLC from prior SEC years but Tracy Rocker stayed at UGA but ended up w a better one.

Still has major Chip on his shoulders and shares the sentiment w Pastor Richt

Finishes season at about 20:30 est today.

My wild off the wall guess is ......

.... Gene Chizik
Love to see him to Canes--but he's happy in Carolina, number two--will be in line for HC if Fedora moves on after bowl game...

As a Dolphin fan, he sucked but as a Cane fan, his defense made me a fortune shutting down the Cornhusker offense just enough.

college and i th ink his team played last nite. corey raymond i think will be named co/dc with kuglowski when its all said and done. im probably wrong but no one really knows.

i don't see aranada as dc he runs a 3-4 base richt wants 4-3 base. ed orgeron wouldn't be a bad get or jim levitt but not sure they happen either. so that leaves me with raymond.

Richt said the scheme will depend on what the coordinator wants to run.

In that case and given our latest impression of the 3-4, Mark better pick a 4-3 guy or his stay here could get uncomfortable very fast.

Paging Nick Saban... Nick Saban needed on aisle THIS.

(Okay, he was mediocre in the NFL, but yeah...)

No i think he would be a great hire..He would more than likely coach the ILBs somethimg i prefer in a DC..and these guys are versatile enough to go from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and vice a versa...i bet a good DC knows advantages and disadvantages with both systems, facor parts of both...and the similarties are extremely close...at Shaq HS we technically ran a 3-4 because our Rush End didn't play with is hand in the dirt...but we called it a 4-3... the big propnent of the D is 1 gap or 2 gap...i prefer 1 gap fill and spill

Where would Fedora go to? Are there any other jobs open that would be better than North Carolina?

No current jobs open better than UNC. can't imagine he'll go anywhere the next few years unless it were a very storied program or somewhere that paid a lot more

Crazy what fedora has done with the least paid staff in all of college football

That answer would imply not having a CO-DC, would it not? I don't care either way, but did you get the sense that Richt was looking at 1 DC or CO-DC's?

Fans obsessing too much over the 3-4/4-3 argument.

A good coach knows how to adjust, and that's all we can ask for. Attack and adjust - plain and simple.

We have a killer coming in to coach our DLinemen. Don't forget that.

Would have to think he is waiting to hear from Vangorder, especially with many rumoring Kelly could leave ND for NFL.
