The Next DC

college and i th ink his team played last nite. corey raymond i think will be named co/dc with kuglowski when its all said and done. im probably wrong but no one really knows.

i don't see aranada as dc he runs a 3-4 base richt wants 4-3 base. ed orgeron wouldn't be a bad get or jim levitt but not sure they happen either. so that leaves me with raymond.

Richt said the scheme will depend on what the coordinator wants to run.

Do you think he might have that discussion before he makes that hire?

Of course. But i think richt likes the 3-4. His last 2 DCs at uga both ran a 3-4. He did originally say he wants to run a 4-3 but has sinced been saying it's depending on the dc.

I just can't see a 3-4 coach coming here after the hiring of Coach Kul(If true that is). Just wouldn't make sense.

Also it's clear some of you have no idea about a 3-4. Some of you just have that Golden 3-4 Wefense stuck in your mind and think all 3-4s suck. Fatten up the DEs? No a 4-3 DT is a DE in a 3-4. You don't need to fatten them up. Some of the best pass-rushers in the league are 3-4 DEs(Watt, Casey, Richardson, Wilkerson, etc.) Not all 3-4s are designed that Golden way. Guys like Chad Thomas and AQM are not 3-4 DEs. They don't necessarily fit a 3-4 but their best positions in a 3-4 are as OLBs. Same goes with Jackson, Patchan, Harris, and all the other 4-3 DEs currently on the team. 3-4s can work just as good as a 4-3 if coached right.

Chizik is a helluva DC. His family is still living in Auburn so it's not like he's tied down at UNC. In fact, it caught my eye when they didn't go with him. Would be interesting to see if he's willing to make the move.

Even if he did, he doesn't strike me as a jump around DC kind of guy. If he's interested in Miami, it's most likely to set up his next HC gig. No?

Obviously since he hasn't been named..Our next DC is still working.. Question / Poll. .is he coaching in the College or NFL ranks?

You may have more insight on this than anybody UknowWhat. Has Richt made mention to you or Shaq who the new DC may be? I obviously wouldn't ask for a name but do you know who it is and if so would you consider the hire a homerun?

Yes... When the Redskins fired everyone with the exception of Olivadotti on the defensive side of the ball is an indicator

This is what Shaq daddy said on the Olivadotti thread when I asked him if you sayin this is the guy?

i know how well a 3-4 can work. my denver broncos run it. phillips runs a 1 gap 3-4 scheme jj watt had h is best years in it and so has demarcus ware. that said alot of teams run a 2 gap 3-4. and it works also in nfl

i just think with athletes u get in south florida a 4-3 works best and i know richt had 2 3-4 dc's last couple times but he has stated in past would perfer to run a 4-3 but was up to dc .

i just think he will go get a 4-3 dc

so far there's been an SEC flavor to the D - hired and rumored

Chizik would be a very solid choice

Chizik said the only reason he went back into coaching as a coordinator and gave up the media work he enjoyed is because Fedora is a very good friend.

Why not spurn your boy and go coach for an inner division rival who would offer the same money? It's MIAMI bro. We won a ton of games in the 80's and have chongas running wild all over the city. Palm trees yo.

Quickest way to HC gig is DC of NC team. Miami getting there with MR quicker than UNC.

if it's KO then my concerns about this being his first ever DC gig would be alleviated with a very experienced guy coaching DL, another coaching DB and KO himself maybe coaching LB.

LOL at us getting Chizik . It most likely will be Kirk O. from the Redskins which is an amazing hire.

I don't see him as a jump around guy either. It just caught my eye because I fully expected his family to move with him (college town, outstanding public schools, etc), and when they didn't, it made me think it was because he didn't expect to be there long.
