The New Unis (allegedly)

While I understand the look, and it is nice, it's clearly not what Adidas said they would do. There is nothing revolutionary about these. Maybe they meant that the technology that goes into the materials and what not are.

These could have been done my anyone. These look good, much better than what we have now.

Bang bang real talk man this is what bugs me out. I like these better than what we have now but this proves adidas isnt confident in making something unique because of the first jerseys and all there othere *** jerseys they do

Nothing to do with Adidas and there confidence in making a jersey. Richt told them to give him a design that mirrored the 80's and the 90's. They already had one mocked up because they had plans for a one-time throwback look. He wants a full-time throwback look and told them to get it done. Unlike in the past where the apparel company gave us whatever they thought looked good, Richt is dictating to them what he wants.

This is totally true. I keep telling people this. Mark came from the SEC where traditional classic looking jerseys are the standard (Bama, LSU, UiF, Georgia, Tenn, Ole Miss ect....so he's not with this Oregon new age uniform crap. He remembers Miami being Classic in the late 80's so that's what he went back to.

In addition, it's to value the University of Miami's brand and values. For the last 16 years, this program has moved away from this programs core roots. Richt is implementing our core values on the field, recruiting, and now in our image. I love it.

Adidas is going to make a ton of money by going simple. We UM fans are tired of our Canes looking different every week. No more feathers, bra straps, clams, mismatched sleeves, or any of that crap. It's football, not a fashion show.

Hard Rock will be on its head at about 8:07 on October 9th

When them boys come out in them unis boyyyyyyyyy...

It's great for the Miami fan who refuses to move on from 1988, but it's a look that appeared dated in 1995, and looks just as dated now. Miami's identity as a program has always been a little forward and unique. It's similar to the fanbase clamoring for Butch, this program has far too many people with both feet firmly in the past. Miami wearing a plain uniform, a uniform that most recruits wouldn't associate with Miami(Because a lot of them weren't even born the last time we wore this template) isn't a good look. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of issues with the current template(Eliminate the stupid speed lines on the sleeves, adjust the pants a bit, especially the oversized U), but recruits like the template, and those are the people whose opinion matters.

We should always honor the past, while striding confidently into the future. These uniforms aren't a confident stride into the future, it's a permanent throwback. I guess green alternates are out the window, that's just awful.

Alabama has been playing with the same style uniform since the stone age

Uniforms do not win football ball games

Did I say that they did? Alabama is also able to consistently pay for elite student-athletes, what's your point? Miami can't win by doing things exactly like 'Bama because it doesn't work for the 'Canes. Alabama's identity is based on their tradition, the fact that the program never changes, it's basically the same no matter who is running it. They've run practically the same offense for the better part of 50 years, with a sojourn to the wishbone during the latter years of the Bryant era. They've rarely changed in regards to anything they've ever done, same with a lot of other traditional powers. Miami isn't that kind of program, this program's identity is similar to the city it calls home: Unique, colorful, flashy. While Alabama, Notre Dame and others are old money, The U is that startup company that went out and made billions, but is still pushing the envelope. This proposed template doesn't fit what Miami's brand identity is now, they would be a great alternate uniform(I'd love to see Miami include a different throwback every season), but week in and week out, it's awful. Miami is most likely losing the green alternate, which means one fewer combination, people notice stuff like that. Going to this template is indicative of something I've noticed in this fanbase: An inability to move forward and react to changing circumstances. Whether it was the cry for over the hill Butch Davis to return as coach, the fact that there's still a vocal group of fans who believe that facilities, and whatnot don't matter because they didn't matter in 1988, it's like we're stuck in a time warp. It's Richt's program, so he should have final say in the look, but I feel that Miami is missing out on a major opportunity.

The classic argument about "recruiting" when it comes to uniforms, yet Oregon can't even sniff the top 25 recruiting class yearly even with their uniforms. You put too much stock into uniforms/recruiting.

These could have been done my anyone. These look good, much better than what we have now.

Mark Richt told them to do it. If we were with Nike or Under Armour they would've been given the same directive.

This. CMR put to end the uniform nightmare Nike and Adidas has given us. Something that Blake James/University of Miami should have done a long time ago. It took a competent coach, with a vision, who gets it. Jimmy and Howard would have done the same. We haven't seen this kind of leadership since Butch Davis.

Nike? Nightmare? DHucks yo D tell these boys what players thought of 2014 uniforms show them some knowledge

Though these are better, I like the last Nike uniforms better. I think the players would agree too. The helmets were the problem, not the jerseys or pants, those were fire.

I don't know that I would buy either of the Adidas jerseys, as I still have the four from Nike's last run. If I had it my way, I'd rather rock the '01 jersey.

The other problem, Nike wasn't hooking it up off the field either. If we continue on a positive course, I'd love to see us get picked back up by Nike and join Michigan with Jordan brand.

No offense to Adidas, just personal preference. I don't matter in the scheme of things.

About Miami’s old-school jerseys — which will be unveiled Monday at 5 p.m. at The Rathskeller bar on campus — Richt said he had “a little input,” but the retail process was too far down the road for him to have much influence over the design (a source told us Richt gave his approval to a pre-existing design).

“Next year, I’ll have a lot to say about that,” he said.

So apparently this wasn't richts doing

Of course wins and losses matter more, I never said it didn't, but as a tiebreaker, aesthetic things start to factor in. Fans may love the uniforms, but as I stated before, a large, vocal majority of our fanbase are stuck in a time warp, a lot of them forget that Miami didn't wear that exact old school template from 1995 or so on, and if the 'Canes were winning, people liked the uniforms anyway. I remember when the 2000 unis first dropped, there was a lot of hate towards that template, people thought they were knockoff Broncos uniforms. Then Miami started to climb the mountain again that year, that hate magically went away. The current template isn't my favorite look, but there's a good mix of old school and new school there, and with some minor adjustments, that set could be **** good. By the way, for those that want to point to Richt as the reason this happened, Coach admitted today that he had very little say, these uniform changes are usually made years in advance, due to the retail and marketing implications.

This will be great for retail, but uniforms aren't made for the fans, they are made for the players, the recruits. I think Miami is taking the lazy, non controversial way out, and that's something that has rarely worked for the 'Canes.

Anyone who doenst think the old school jerseys with new age fabric won't look dope as **** are insane.

Just give me a green alternate, a U on the collar, and our 2000-16 number font and they are great!

Didn't mind the Green alts

But all we need is orange/white, white/white, and white/orange

Not a fan of the orange/orange look
