The New Tight End Meeting Room

Because Winslow Jr. Doesn't represent the U well in his life. Great player on the field but head case off of it.

That's like, UF putting Hernandez picture somewhere in their meeting rooms.

Doesnt make sense to me. To make that wall imo, you need to embody what the school AND program stands for. At least be a decent human being off the field

Disagree bcs its not fair to compare Winslow to Hernandez...Winslow hasn't been found guilty of anything yet and Hernandez murdered someone...no comparison

Based on what exactly BEFORE this happened?

We all knew Shockey was crazy going back to college. He seems like the type of dude who would not only do that, but record it and post it on youtube.

Separately, how was the beach today? Seems like you haven't managed to get all that sand out of your ******.
You don’t put rapists on walls.

You put them behind walls.

Winslow Jr has had issues throughout his career. This arrest isn't the 1st time his name has been brought up regarding something negative. I'm not advocating against him being on the wall. Just saying he has a history.

Even Ray Lewis was accused of murder. Beat that but what else did he have against him? I think there was a domestic abuse or something? Could be wrong though. But that dude reps the U constantly, has turned his life around to be a motivational speaker. He went through lows & triumphed.

Lastly, noone knows the criteria for being on the wall. I don't. I assume they went with guys that 1) embodied what the U stands for and 2) has recognition with these younger kids when they see them. These young dudes dont know some of the TEs in the 80s

You're entitled to your opinion. I respect that

Actually, I wrote that, thought about it, and thought I DIDN'T post it. You were right. It's definitely similar. Not AS bad, but similar (IF the charges are legit, and there's some weird $#!+ going on with that already).

All good bro. For sure not as bad. My mistake for making it sound like it was. I was trying to say his name comes up many times in a negative light rather than positive.

If someone were to ask what do you think about:

Dewayne Johnson
Ed Reed
Sean Taylor
Ray Lewis
Michael Irvin
Etc

Your immediate thoughts are good guys, great speakers, uplifting etc.

When I hear Winslow Jr. My immediate thought was his last arrest unfortunately.

Like I said, my apologies for not being clearer.

I don't know man. I was at Miami when Winslow was there. You hear all sorts of stuff about tons of guys. Sure, you heard crazy things about him. I'm not looking too deep into the perception. And hey, Sean was not exactly perceived as some great dude by any means. Either was Irvin, for a while. I think the analysis of big time athletes is subject to a ton of exaggeration.

But I just caught myself up on the Winslow stuff, which is really, really ugly. Banging rails at a party with hookers vs. luring people to you and raping them are very, very different things. Which was basically why I retracted my statement. Being deliberately physically hurtful to other people to the point of rape or murder are a different level of awful.

I don't know what is going on with that mess, but the last I heard one of the "victims" pointed out Winslow's lawyer, in court, as the attacker.

Something isn't right about all of it, and it's not (just) the raping grannies part.
Maybe the lawyer was. You never know with lawyers... maybe it was the judge.

If we're basing it mainly on his NFL career.

What about Clive Walford?

Glenn Dennison? Willie Smith? Chud?

Even Chase Ford made it to the league.
I’d choose Kevin Everett over all those guys. Franks was the one that really started the 1st round pick tradition. The only 1st rounder not on the wall is Winslow so I get it. Jimmy G was a mid round pick even though he’s a beast in the league.
