This fan base seems to think that he was actually a good recruiter. A good recruiter doesn't bring in a few good recruits and then twice as many guys who should not even be at miami. Everyone thinks the 2012 class was great but i know it wasn't. Let's take a look.

30+ recruits and maybe 10 turned out to be good players but people think he was a good recruiter. Everyone of his classes except maybe 2014 has been a few good recruits paired with a lot of reaches.

This program needs good coaches and good recruiters too becauase the team is lacking at a few positions.

Not developing players is just as bad IMO. Gorlden was not very good at that either.

He wasn't great at anything, but he did amass some talent for the next coach. Last year alone we had 7 players drafted so he was doing something right. As I said, he wasn't a great recruiter, but he did accumulate a good amount of talent except for OL and DT.

Good top end talent, bad charachter evaluation on alot of kids though

Ereck flowers? At the end of the day those guys were developed. perryman, Clive walford, Duke Johnson, Phillip Dorsett, flowers, armbrister, Gunter. They all got better every year. Coming from highschool I would have never though Dorsett would have been a 1st round pick

Not a great recruiter, but a good one. He convinced some talented kids to come to Miami despite the obvious fact that he couldn't win his way out of a wet paper bag. Or something. A better coach would have developed the talent better and won a lot more with them, which would have let to better recruits wanting to come to Miami. Whatever, he sucked and he's gone.

Miami has the 2nd most players in the NFL.

Miami has higher rated classes than everyone it plays except FSU for a decade.

The problem is and was COACHING.

Al Golden was considered one of the best recruiters in the biz. But when you can't win, you can't recruit. We have gone over this hundreds of times for the love of god.

He was not considered one of the best. The only clown that said that was tom lemming. Ask anybody at other recruiting services. **** ask pete, dmoney, kyle, geo etc. The guy was a average recruiter.

He was a good recruiter not elite. Let's face it though we will always get talent based on our history and location. Next coach has to get the studs to stay home. No more losing the Dalvin Cook's and Calvin Ridley's amongst others.

For coming into the south florida cold turkey and under the circumstances he did I think he did a good job.
The next coach that takes over won't have a the roster holes that he inherited.

Said this b4 to the slurp derps that Golden was extremely overrated as a recruiter. Each year after his 1st real class in 2012, it got worst. The attrition rate under Golden was unbelievable, worst under any coach in the P5.

Couple that w/ the shear lack of player development, in particular, on the defensive side of the ball, and you have the worst coach in Canes football history, imo.
