The More You Know...About Virginia Tech

I can see us make Logan Thomas look like a Heisman candidate again. This predictable, no-pressure D can't stop a nosebleed.

you mean the defense that was #11 in scoring prior to holding fsu to their lowest point total of the season? the same one that put the only dent in jameis winston's heisman campaign?
You're proud that Miami "held" FSU to FORTY-ONE points?

Some interesting stuff on VT (some we know)

Not to suggest I’m keen on Virginia Tech’s chances Saturday night at No. 14 Miami. I watched the Hokies’ home loss to Duke two weeks ago in-person and their subsequent defeat at Boston College on television. Their running game remains a mess, quarterback Logan Thomas tries to do too much, and the defense can cover up only so many sins (eight turnovers in the last two games).

But as Virginia Tech (6-3, 3-2 ACC) showed during the six-game winning streak that preceded this two-game skid, staunch defense and turnover-free offense can carry a team beyond its perceived limits. Whether the Hokies can rediscover that recipe against the best opponent they’ve faced since the opener against No. 1 Alabama is the prevailing question.

- The Hokies, by the way, are 6.5-point underdogs. The last time they won as such a large pup was in 2008 at Nebraska, where the Cornhuskers were 7-point faves.

- The last time Virginia Tech defeated a top-15 team on the road was 2006, when it won at No. 14 and eventual ACC champion Wake Forest. The Hokies were ranked 19th at kickoff.

- The last time an unranked Virginia Tech beat a top-15 opponent on the road was 1989 at No. 9 West Virginia.

Lets not forget LT ripped apart our vaunted pass defense going 23 for 25 for 300+ in 2011

That was 2011

VT offense is god awful.......108th in the nation running the ball.

Also, why does a game in 2011 even have any relevance today?
His comment was specific to Logan Thomas who is still their starting QB. It is relevant to the discussion.

What does a 2011 game have any relevance on today? Their team is very different and we're very different so please let me know.

It's the same QB (who threw for 300+ yards) starting for Va Tech. If we do not put pressure on him he is perfectly capable of hitting open receivers. I don't know how to make it any clearer.

No SHlT, this has been said 1000 times. My point in responding was this isn't 2011 anymore we're a very different team as is VT. VT lost the key to that 2011 team, David Wilson. Hence that game has little bearing on today. Hence that game will not determine anything in relation to today.

We have watched this guy play enough to see the difference in his performance (pressure v. none). That 2011 has nothing to do with today.

The Duke game is just as important as the VaTech game in terms of goign to the ship. If Duke wins out and Clemson beats GT, Duke goes to the ship so I think all we have to do is to beat Tech and Duke

We didn't hold them to anything. They scored a TD on EVERY posession (sans the two bad throws by Winston for INTs) until the beginning of the 4th. They could have hung 70 on us.

One guy not mentioned for VT is Stanford. That guy was balling against BC last week. We will need to be good in coverage, hope the dline can pressure LT.

he's their slot guy, runs good routes and has good hands. He'll make a few catches against us. Good friend of the family.
