We don't need a conference.

When Miami is competitive and playing for national championships we have a worldwide brand.

Like the team we despise. Notre Dame.

Teams will still want to play against the U. From the bottom and to the top unless they're afraid to play us.

Think about

Miami vs Texas
Miami vs USC
Miami vs Michigan.

lol they won’t be able to make a good enough schedule and who is going to pay them 40-50m a year to even try and keep pace. Nobody.
Hybrid model like the Dommers do.

My post. Is to say that we don't necessarily need the ACC or any conference.

Especially in this day and age where it's all about dollars and cents even more so than the past.

Could be a 3 year Band-Aid but not a long term solution.

I’d love it
But
Don’t think it is feasible
Unless espn offered to pay huge $$$$
Annually and I don’t see it happening

With 3 OOC games a year you honestly think a P4 conference team is lining up to play Miami? Notre Dame's schedule is dog**** and ACC gives them 5 games a year. They mostly getting bottom feeders. USC, Michigan won't play them.

It's 2026 not 1986. The landscape of college football has changed.

CFP committee for whatever reason has allowed ND to play by a different set of rules compared to everyone else. I doubt CFP committee would broker a similar deal for Miami. And, unless Bezos is willing to set Miami up with a TV deal and rights like NBC has with ND then it won't be worth it.

Finally, as others have mentioned already, Texas, USC, Michigan, etc. won't schedule another big game like Miami for their OOC games. Miami goes independent and you'll see a schedule full of FIU, FAU, West Florida and UTSA.

Agreed. Look how hard it's been to schedule OOC games now that all the P4 conferences are at nine conference games. It's going to be impossible to put together a 12-team schedule. We'd end up having to kiss the Big 12 and ACC's asses to put together a guaranteed schedule and then fill in with those remaining Florida directional schools. And then no guaranteed media slots, payouts, nothing. I don't like the risk.

Bruh… I like your feistiness, lol….. but NOBODY would want to play a good Miami team because it would mean a P4 school taking a greater than normal chance of losing a game that they didn’t have to sign up for. It would honestly be too hard to build a good enough schedule year after year to get into the playoffs. Nobody in a competitive schedule would sign up for that scenario. They could actually freeze us out of a chance to make the playoffs. And then not getting a fat check just for being in a conference would not be ideal either.
There would HAVE TO BE some guarantees like the domers got.

The biggest benefit of Indy: REFS. The issue, I doubt being indy even helps with that.

I expect a battle between the SEC and Big10 for Miami. We just have to keep winning games, making the CFP, and having big viewership numbers.

No.

If you’re not in a big conference within the next half a decade or so, you’re dead.

The only exception is ND, and that’s because of their NBC deal.

The ACC does not qualify as a big conference. You guys like all this money we’re getting, right? Imagine what we’d be making as a member of the BIG or SEC.

The key is your last sentence. Can't have guaranteed spots for two independents in the 12th team system right now.

Buuuut. For monstrosity of brand. It's literally only Dome flakes. And Tejas.

For even the remote possibility of just being independent. It's only those three schools that have that firepower.

The other one being the U

9 game conference schedules eliminates those dream matchups you're fantasizing about.
