This is such a dumb opinion in part because he chooses to write about just 1 school. But his opinion basically applies to every school that is not part of the Big 10 or SEC as the only differentiating factor is that ACC does not have a TV contract that equals the other 2.

So that begs the question of why single out UM? The writer would answer that it is because he is writing a piece for the Herald and why does a Herald reader care about whether Rice drops sports, or Stanford. Good answer except that it fails to deal with the elephant in the room of this argument; FSU. See @TheOriginalCane’s financial argument as well.
We know a ton of FSU grads live in Miami and presumably subscribe to the Herald. So why would UM drop sports and not FSU? FSU does not need sports to attract students. The bottom third of Florida high school students who attend FSU would go the regardless of whether there is a football team (because they were already rejected by UF and UM, LOL).

The fact is there is no logical answer for why the writer singles out UM and does not at least include FSU, except one could argue, he is an FSU fan. Frankly, I can’t find another logical answer but maybe I am missing something and someone else can fill me in. Until then, all I see is a poorly reasoned article that is not worth the 45 seconds it took any of us to read it.

If you look up the majority of the sports writers who cover us for that **** rag paper it's **** near all people from trailerhassee or people from gaysville.
