Yes, I know the defense was the far less bad unit against GT than the offense and kicking, BUT...The defense is not where it needs to be either. But this Mcloud/LB **** is inexcusable
A. You address it with him before the season, you have to see it coming in today's college football landscape with ridiculous transfer/redshirt freedom...So you play him vs. UF AND not again, saving him for 3 more games. If someone gets hurt game two or 3, Mcloud is a starter or plays 25 -40 snaps a game depending on opponent for the rest of his career instead of 8. If it happens late you have him for 3 games!!
B. You tell him no when he asks midseason because you are too thin...If the kid isn't cool with it then you say thanks for your services, enjoy the portal...Because last I checked you are paying his tuition. Because what the kid is going to do is transfer anyways if he gets beat out ext spring, which there's a chance because Mcloud does some thing well others not so well. So basically he is not only wanting to start next year, but there is no lock he does it for you.
C. But if you do it at beginning of the season, you could have had him in there yesterday when Pickney went out. If Pickney goes out with a 21-0 lead obviously you don't need to play him and address following week.
D. And if you f**k all that up, then tough *** get in the game Zach we are fighting for our lies vs. GT? Oh you don't want to?? Bye bye kid.
And don't forget you told Octavious Brothers and others no in January. So it's your own LB recruiting that has you part of the way in this situation
And I'm still wondering how this Ragone kid (who may or may not be a viable 2nd or 3rd stringer at UM right now, 3rd may be tops, he looks small and slow) is a better option than Finley (had one of his worst games), Frierson, or moving K. Smith or Carter into the box. This is a f**king joke.
Last I checked this season means something even NOW...we need wins right now that we aren't aren't playing to win the ACC, but before this GT loss we were still live for the division for christ sake...and we are paper thin, you going to run this Ragone out there?
This and playing for FG when you can't kick is why I can't be optimistic with Diaz and now Enos. I'm willing to let upset losses slide in year 1, especially when some of them are kinda unlucky...But it can't keep happening and when I see incompetence like this^ it's unforgivable
3 games in and you are PAPER THIN at LB(And apparently Joyner doesn't heal fast and you know this???) and you just say "sure Zach redshirt" ? Should have been addressed start of season.
