The Latest on the Canes' Transfer Portal Targets

Mario is trying to win championships and FErman is trying to seek us that the coaches of all people, have faith in Emory Williams? Absurd.

Mario wants experienced QB’s who are proven winners. Leavitt fits that mold better than anyone else in this year’s portal as a result of his success in 2024. Just As Cam and Beck fit that mold.

My only legit two concerns:

1) Does he have a leg to legit hit 50-54 when asked and necessary?

2) can he legit kick it out of the end zone on kickoffs like Davis does? That protects our coverage teams and reduces risks of injuries, etc.

Can always get a specialist for the kick offs as well but I love the accuracy between 30-49.

It looks like he didn’t do KOs for NW. So it seems like they’re looking for someone highly accurate inside 50 and will use a specialist for kickoffs and beyond 50. Will that guy we got from Texas still have eligibility?

I am of the opinion Leavitt wants the Oregon spot but it's not open until Moore declares. Oregon wants Moore to return which is why they are not openly in the QB market (yet), but they need him to decide this weekend. Raiola also seems to be in a holding pattern for Oregon but I think he is on the outside looking in right now.

Dante Moore is the domino that needs to fall. Prediction: Moore declares, Leavitt to Oregon, Raiola to Miami.

@The Franchise - I agree. I don't like it one bit.

To maintain our level of play? I think we have we have plenty of guys who can take snaps. But I think there’s a big gap between Blount/Mesidor along with guys like Wilson and what we currently got. Maybe the staff can develop that, but it’s a risk imo

How many 1st round talent pass rushers who can also set edge and defend run do we have? Lightfoot has elite pass rush potential. But it’d be a gamble on whether he can add the weight and strength.

I’m not sure Blount’s future looks like position wise. We’ve not really seen Lowe to know what his impact is. Pickett and Scorggins are fighting for Lightfoots role.
I totally forgot we get Lowe back for next season. That I am sure will take a few games to get over the ACL surgery from a game shape and mental aspect but he should really help us next year.

Biles is nice. The Cal linebacker is my pick. That kid is a machine. Ok, let’s take both! That flips the room for one year while the young ones gain reps next year.

Do we need 2? I suppose it depends if Mo comes back. We lose Wes and chase. Aguirre is good to start next year. Is 30 not ready?

Right and it is 2026 where people are booming them on the regular as a weapon. That Ole Miss dude have any years left?
He has one year left and he’s already signed up again with Ole Miss.

💯- this isn’t the old days of a 49 yd FG being some kind of massively long kick.

One of the reasons Ole Miss beat Georgia and hung around with us was that **** kicker.

No, he’s out of eligibility and he wasn’t a long kick specialist either. Similar to this kid.

IMO- yes. Toure and Chase may both return. Wes would be the only departure via graduation. Hayes legal. They want to flip this room to take the defense to the next level.

He does

He does

Thanks! Agreed on both takes. No kicker is perfect but we’ve had some weapons and what a difference they make.
