The JoJo thread

We do this all the time.

We anoint a player who hasn't done anything the "best player ever at their position" and then when they don't get on the field, we assume the coach has some secret vendetta to keep the player off the field.

This dates back to Willie Williams and Latwan Anderson and probably 100s of other folks whose names I've forgotten.

I want Trader to play to his ranking and I too am intrigued but all this commotion over him isn't warranted. The coaches usually put the players that will make them look good on the field. If he can't get in, it's likely not a conspiracy, it's him.

I agree with everything you wrote, but I will add one additional wrinkle that annoys me: the source of the hype.

The same coaches/staffers who are rightfully down on the player today because of that player's lack of maturity/off-field issues/lax practice routine are the same coaches who were gassing up the player during off-season workouts and spring ball. So while we (as a fanbase) do this all the time, the catalyst for the hype almost always comes from the staff and people near the program.

Coaches/staff jump the gun about a young player, it gets reported to the fans, and a new GreenTree All-Americans is born. Tale as old as time.

At that time of the hype (the off season) it may have been deserved. Obviously, something changed. Change happens frequently but many hang onto the initial assessment as gospel.

All this time the OP implied Jojo did nothing wrong and Mario’s ego is keeping him off the field. It turns out he got in trouble with the police, was punished and has a ****** work ethic? This didn’t turn out how the OP was expecting.
Well, OP is around the same age as these young bols (think he played with James in HS, no Diddy) so.... I mean... when I was young and dumb, that's exactly what I was. Young and dumb. Not using wisdom and discretion in situations you should and quick to blame older people.

Roxanne, Liv (when she returns), Rhea, Iyo, Asuka, Stratton, Lash, Vaquer, Guilia, Sol Ruca, Bianca, Jaida, Kelani, Naomi (if she returns), and Lola. And Roxanne is the superstar.

AEW sucks. Toni is the only one worth watching.

TNA has some interesting pieces: of course Kelani (who i listed above). But Tessa Blanchard is a stud and should be on the top of female wrestling, but she hates black people.

my top 10

Roxanne
Stratton (although WWE creative killed her title reign)
Liv
Iyo
Toni
Vaquer
Tessa
Naomi
Jaida
Asuka can still go

Sasha Banks leaving WWE and eventually signing with AEW completely ruined her. She was the best female wrestler on the planet while in WWE.
My friend, you know your women's wrestling.

I think sky is the limit, it's getting to where a lot of these female athletes are gonna make a promoter think.... hmmm... the girls need their own wrestling show.

our offense would be **** sure better if we used more receivers other than 3 and two tight ends bunched together.

jesus **** even run out of wider splits but as gabby said on a pod today or yesterday, they wont change the system. this is only what they practice and only what they will do. they just have to execute better blah blah blah.

were ****ed if beck goes into a tailspin basically bc hes gonna have to carry this offense on his back

Per the data I've seen, we've run 11 on 70% of our snaps this year, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Our best formation has actually been 21, which we run almost 10% of the time.

The fact is, we've been a better passing team than running team, both by success rate and EPA/play. Lean into that more. We're pretty much exactly a 50/50 team right now, run/pass.

Devil's advocate will say we just threw the ball more in a game than we have all year, and it was the worst performance of the year, sooooooo.....

there is a BUNCH of talent that's coming up through NXT and WWE's development. Add to the relationship that WWE has with TNA, WWE is close to having a roster that can support their own 2hr wrestling show.

On this, we must disagree. I just don't believe "hype" can be "deserved" in the off-season.

And I doubt much truly changed with the player. Just additional facets of his persona were revealed to the coaches by the player's actions. All the more reason to be reserved in one's opinions until you see it in a game situation, IMO.

“Deserved” was probably wrong to describe the hype. But we often see players being hyped and then don’t live up to it for a multitude of reasons many of which no one knows except those in the Hecht.

Doesn’t look like took a play off. Whether he ran the wrong route or not or missed an assignment is another story.

That's fair. Information asymmetry is definitely playing a role, too, as these declines probably don't seem as sudden to the people in the building with more information/date points that see the player nearly every day (versus us fans who only get updates every so often).

Invasive is my favorite brewery. Hands down the best spot, especially now that they have booze for when I’m too full from beer. The guava pastelito sour is my favorite beer.

3 Sons has the best food and a really good beer selection.

I really don’t even bother going anywhere else these days.
Orchestrated Minds in Fort Laud is also awesome. It's a small place (and they don't do food, but they sometimes have a food truck) but they have a great selection of rotating taps. Have yet to try anything that was bad there.

It’s why the OP is a genius for his timing

Had we blown Louisville out this would be 2 pages long with a bunch of people saying “get on the bus or gtfo”

But now people are desperate for a life preserver

We did it last year with Damari Brown. Our defense was gonna be saved if only he could get healthy!

Our offense would suddenly be unlocked if only JoJo were playing!
That's precisely correct. And ironically, I doubt any of the issues we had last game are affected in any manner by better WR play. I mean, Marion could have played that one INT better by coming back to the ball but Trader isn't changing bad decisions by Beck or making runs into the center's back over and over look any better.

In fairness, a lot of the reports from Greentree were silent on Jojo, which should have been a sign.
