(The) Indiana (Game)

Hetherman also has a pulse on how Haines (DC) and Shanahan (OC) call games as both have been with Cig since IU-Pennsylvania days. Take pages from Penn St., Iowa and OSU games; limit our mistakes and take advantage of IU's. Mendoza loves the back shoulder throw to Surratt. We can and will run on IU d-line, don't get cute with the Mali bs here, if something is working keep ******* doing it Dawson.

Beck has to play better. This is it. No more playing to only not throw a pick. If we have one on one shots down the field, which we will, give your kid a chance to make a play. If they don’t and the DB does, tip your cap.

He’s been incredible at playing for us not to lose. He’s been incredible on 3rd down the last 2 games in the short/intermediate game to keep drives going.
He’s been **** good with his legs.

It’s time to show you can push the ball down the field and make big plays in the passing game. Cig is a smart coach, obviously. Indiana is good in the front 7. They’re not going to shut down the run game, but Fletcher isn’t getting 10 a carry like A&M or 6 per carry like Ole Miss. Beck is going to have to win this game for us if we’re gonna do it.

He’s been good enough for us to win, up to this point. He needs to be even better to get #6.

Play our A game and we bring this **** home. I believe it with all my heart. We are better on the lines. It all starts there. If Beck can match Mendoza, we’ll have a parade.
he played to win the game vs Ol Miss. He showed up and out big time.

He's thrown downfield. Guys aren't where they should be or separated enough to make the play.

The defense needs to play smart. Getting Indiana off the field without the explosive plays will be key

yes. And he throws it up near Becker multiple times a game. He relies on him to make the play. The back-shoulder and the throw it up are his two favorite pass plays.

Yep lean on em & by all means take some shots when you feel like it’s there if they start creeping up. I also like the idea getting Mali in space n seeing if they can make a play on the best phenom in the country.(not from the malicat that be wont work on this team they are too disciplined)The gameplan can be very simple but execution is going to be the difference, mistakes against Indiana are like death blows
Folks are dialed in to the malicat, so wonder if there isn’t a way to use it as a decoy to set up something off of it.

Indiana took advantage of Oregon's mistakes. Big time. We had a lot of self inflicted wound in the Fiesta bowl. Way too many.

We need to:
A) not make mistakes
B) force them to make mistakes and take advantage of them

This is a good matchup on the field.

NO penalties Cooper and Bell need to cut out the movement penalties this game.

Blay needs to tighten up.

So now that it looks like Indiana is prob the team we are facing what is the gameplan? OSU gameplan?
After hearing the analysts at the beginning of the game say that Indiana pretty much only rotates 13 players on defense due to limited depth, ground and pound is absolutely the way to go. We have to make sure the defense is tired and bruised by the start of the second half.

I’m not gonna argue with you because we won and that’s all that matters. But he didn’t play great. He’d be the first one to tell you that. He didn’t play bad, don’t get me wrong. Obviously. And the last drive, we threw the ball, and won the game. He deserves all the credit. But we should’ve won that game by double-digits. The reason why we didn’t is certainly not all his fault. Not at all. But it’s partially his fault. We had several opportunities for big plays down the field and we didn’t hit them. If we want to beat Indiana, we need to hit some of those. The very first play of the game should’ve been a touchdown. He rushed the throw a little bit because a defender flashed on his blindside, and the throw was bad. He had Toney down the right sideline for a TD and threw the ball out of bounds later in the game. There were a few others where the ball was inaccurate on downfield throws.

He needs to keep doing what he’s doing, which is playing well and protecting the ball, but he needs to hit some explosives too. We can’t rely on shutting Indiana out in the first half and getting a pick six like we did against taint. The offense has to score 24+ points on its own.

I expect it to be a relatively low scoring game - 21-17 kind of thing. IU is extremely efficient on offense and hardly makes any mistakes both in execution and playcalls. Like, if they're driving by running, they won't run a bag play and destroy momentum. Fernando also doens't make a lot of bad throws.

We need to be as efficient as we were prior to the Ole Miss game, cut the penalties and beck has to have a decent/good game and we should win.

Would love if OJF was healthy, though. that's the part that concerns me. He;s our best cover guy and if Lucas is going to be out for a half, need all hands on deck. Would be awesome if Brown could go.

I actually think we’d be better off spreading their defense and run on that

It would limit any exotics and I don’t think our little screens are going to work on a bunched field

We need to show something different but not sure we can actually do that
It maximizes the mass disparity per gap, their DL is small and shallow. Don't let them scrum to support each other.

nah he just has had bad throws downfield. Missed toney and Marion. Now he did hit the other one to Marion tho

Honestly there's been a few times where he just overthrew the ball or threw to the wrong shoulder.

But our guys have been beating their guys but Beck needs to put a little air under the ball or under throw it just a little bit to force a PI at least.

First it was Reed was going to throw all over us with Concepcion/Carver.

Then we couldn't stop OSU.

Then it was Chambliss is generational.

Now it's Indiana is a juggernaut.
This. If anyone beats IU it's us. The 2 most physical teams in the sport are going to play for the Natty. With our trench play, we match up better than anyone else against them.
