Remember even in my criticism of him throughout the year, it didn't come because we were run heavy. It was because we were repetitive in our play calling and running the ball in ways that didn't test the defense. I've never had a problem with us running the ball. All I care about is winning and that's the strength of this team. Just be imaginative in how we embrace that. Overall he's doing an amazing job in the playoffs. I just want him to stay out of his head and stick to what he knows we excell at.
To his credit he’s been great other than getting cute. Last two drives v TOSU were elite. Same with final drive b ole miss

I just watched the Big ten champ game and 2 things really stand out for me.

1. with all the NFL talent Taint has at DB they were playing way off the line on their receivers. Curious why they didnt' bump them off the line to disrupt the quick timing passing game of Indiana

2. Their boneheaded coach calls a pass on a 3rd and 1 in the redzone that goes nowhere and makes up for it by a QB sneak puts his knee down before getting the 1st in a 3 point game leading to a turnover on downs and zero points. Why not run the ball on 3rd and 1 with an actual Running back if you are the bigger team?

I don't think we need to play anywhere near a perfect game to beat them. Go back and watch those 3 games I referenced....Penn State, Iowa, and Ohio State all made a ton of mistakes and STILL had a chance to win. All 3 lost by less than 6 points. We are better than all 3 of those teams.

Miami has a lot more "outs" in this game. We're a team that can win multiple ways. I honestly think Indiana's carriage is about to turn back into a pumpkin. Midnight looms.
Well I somewhat agree and hope you are right. But I will say if we have 10 penalties (like last game) we will lose. Book it.

IU is lethal at the back shoulder fades if you play bump and run m2m. They destroyed Oregon's m2m in the playoff game. They will also chuck the ball deep to Becker and Co and win with some regularity if you're m2m across the board against them

Iowa rewatch is next. Rewatched PSU last night. I thought IU did a good job outside the Singleton explosive. 28 carries for 60 yards without it.

I just don't see them stopping our run game. Separate from the debate over run game play-calling, I will never understand how our OL struggled to get a push in the run game in the middle of the season. Glad they figured it out and are playing to their potential now though.

Running game took a while to get going last season too. Maybe it’s defenses wearing down but obviously more variation than the duo spam days

This is a huge key to the game those 50/50 balls. It seems like they have been completing these at a 70% or above clip.

Are they due for a game where it goes the other way?
