The Inaugural CanesInSight Early Signing Day Thread

It's good seeing all those studs sign early. Now the coaches focus can be narrowed down to those left unsigned while also working towards next year. Great class so far!

It'll be interesting to see how coaching staffs approach these "commits" who don't sign today. How much pressure does ole Willie put on Asante the next two days? Do they all of the sudden start offering plan Bs?

In this case, Taggart has already done an In-Home with Asante and he's already taken his official to FSU. So not many bullets left in the clip for them at this point.

Has the bag man visited him yet?? That is the real visit.

Willie is an amateur and wasted all his visits hoping he would sign early, he didn’t! He is all Miami’s now.

I thought I read that he went in home the same day he visited him at school.

Yeah, saw your post with the link to the FSU thread, where a poster there mentioned that. The tweet with he and Taggart pictured together said it was a visit at his school, so not sure if the in-home occurred or not.

A University is allowed 6 contacts per prospective student-athlete (13.1.5.2 below).

A contact occurs when a coach meets a prospective student-athlete off-campus on a planned meeting. They may meet at multiple times and locations during that day, and the University is charged with only one contact (13.1.4.2.1). A day is defined as 12:01 a.m. thru 12:00 midnight. A week is defined as Sun. thru Sat.

The head coach is only allowed 1 contact per student-athlete (13.1.2.6.2). Could meet with him
multiple times in multiple places during that day and assistant coaches can also be present.

Taggart is done with Asante off-campus.

Below are some things you probably should know about recruiting. they can be found at:

13.02.4 Contact. A contact is any face-to-face encounter between a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete’s parents, relatives or legal guardians and an institutional staff member or athletics representative during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting. Any such face-to-face encounter that is prearranged (e.g., staff member positions himself or herself in a location where contact is possible) or that takes place on the grounds of the prospective student-athlete’s educational institution or at the site of organized
competition or practice involving the prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete’s high school, preparatory school, two-year college or all-star team shall be considered a contact, regardless of whether any conversation occurs. However, an institutional staff member or athletics representative who is approached by a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete’s parents, relatives or legal guardians at any location shall not use a contact, provided the encounter was not prearranged and the staff member or athletics representative
does not engage in any dialogue in excess of a greeting and takes appropriate steps to immediately terminate the encounter.

13.02.4.1 Evaluation Activities During Contact Period—Football. [FBS/FCS] In football, a visit to a prospective student-athlete’s high school, preparatory school or two-year college, or an evaluation at any site that occurs during a contact period shall constitute a contact (for all prospective student-athletes in that sport at the educational institution) for that particular week even if no contact is made with a prospective student-athlete.

13.02.5 Periods of Recruiting Activities.
13.02.5.1 Contact Period. A contact period is a period of time when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

13.02.5.4 Quiet Period. A quiet period is a period of time when it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the institution’s campus. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period.

13.02.5.5 Dead Period. A dead period is a period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the institution’s campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution’s campus. It remains permissible, however, for an institutional staff member to write or telephone a prospective student-athlete during a dead period.

13.1.2.6.2 Off-Campus Contact. [FBS] In bowl subdivision football, the head coach may make in-person, off-campus contact with a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians only during one calendar day. It is permissible for this contact to occur both at the site of the prospective student-athlete’s educational institution and away from the institutional grounds. During such contact, the head coach may be accompanied by assistant coaches, who otherwise are required to observe the restrictions contained in the bylaws.

13.1.4.2 Football and Women’s Basketball. In football and women’s basketball, institutional staff members may visit a prospective student-athlete’s educational institution on not more than one occasion during a particular week within a contact period, regardless of the number of prospective student-athletes enrolled in the institution or whether any prospective student-athlete is contacted on that occasion.

13.1.4.2.1 Visits During Contact Period—Football. [FBS/FCS] In football, one contact per prospective student-athlete is permitted during each week of the contact period as specified in Bylaw 13.17.5 either at the prospective student-athlete’s educational institution or any other location (e.g., prospective student-athlete’s home). A visit to the prospective student-athlete’s educational institution and any other location (e.g., prospective student-athlete’s home) during the same calendar day shall be considered one contact.

13.1.5.2 Football. [FBS/FCS] In football, each institution shall be limited to six in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts per prospective student-athlete at any site and shall include contacts made with the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians, but shall not include contacts made during an official visit per Bylaw 13.6 or an unofficial visit per Bylaw 13.7.4.

I'm HYPED. Everything I thought that would benefit us when the early signing rules were announced is happening.

This rule helps UM far more than any other team in the country.

Why is that?

Because our fan base has ZERO bag game. The less time for bags to get dropped the better for us.

No. Schools just gone start dropping bags early

different model, they are working on it now, they are slow and didn't catch on at first.

So is Erick Marrero still with canesinsight?

Asking for a friend, with the initial J.J.

Just kidding, but thought someone would be at Reed's school for his announcement.

and then again it might not, good to have you back on board. Mat drills need to be tougher in 2018.
