The Impact of NIL

I love it. The days where two or three schools could spend (what is in today’s environment limited money) to secure the best recruits, while others could offer very little and were constantly aware that the NCAA could bring down the hammer if they became too successful are over.

def leveled the playing field... first, remember when the 4 team playoff first came out? Yes some small issues over schools 5-7 but no one ever really batted an eye at teams 10+ because you had 4-6 premier teams hogging all the talent, then it would fall off a cliff and there was a huge gap between those two tiers, that has definitely closed.

Second, I love Coach O's interview he did recently, question was asked if he got back into coaching how difficult would it be to adjust to NIL? something like that, his response was well not different at all, I coached in the SEC, so instead of bringing the money through the back door I only need to get used to bringing it through the front door lol

Been saying it for multiple seasons now. The majority of games played between teams 1 through 25 are going to be decided by two or three things that occur during the game.

There’s very few teams that can survive losing the turnover battle, multiple drops, two or three game changing penalties or crucial in game injuries.

The margin for error is just too small.

UGA/Bama have made it to the conference title game a combined 15 times since 2016 (out of 20 possible slots)

- UGA has made it the last 5 years
- Bama has made it 4 times since 2020
- They’ve been matched up against each other 5x since 2016

Since 2014 only ONE team has won the SEC that ISNT Alabama/UGA (LSU in 2019)

Only thing this new parity has done imo is Muddy up the rest of the SEC and justify the narrative that the SEC is the best and fit in 5 playoff teams. But the SEC has been The Bama/UGA league as far as I’m concerned

Nick Saban started the SEC mystique… got it going at LSU in 03 for their first title since 1953 and then bama on that epic run. Followed by jawja copying the blue print of saban and going on a similar run

If the sec fails to win the natty year again that will be 3 straight years of no sec team winning it. And if I’m not mistaken two years of not even being runner up. Hoarding of talent in two or three locations is over… yes some other SEC schools will rise up from the median but other schools across the country are gonna start taking turns at titles

I am glad common sense won out. How anyone could think and celebrate that it was great for the sport to keep the playoffs teams confined to Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson perpetually is ridiculous

I am glad common sense won out. How anyone could think and celebrate that it was great for the sport to keep the playoffs teams confined to Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson perpetually is absurd.

As a media organization, ESPN really fell down in the 2010s by failing to go after the seeming recruiting violations of certain schools. When players for a top program can post pictures of themselves with wads of cash on NSD and there is not story, but Miami is being called to cancel their program for giving players boat rides is sheer clownery.

If it kept going what was the point of following the sport when it was hoarded away to just two or three schools that were allowed to be playing with a different set of rules than others.

Parity is fun… it’s nice seeing random team with good coaches and players make runs. The emphasis is back to good coaching, innovative schemes, and maximizing your roster because you can’t simply out talent opponents with a 3 deep of 5 stars
