The Heartbreaks In Recruiting That Came Back To Haunt Golden

Or maybe but correct me if I am wrong....In the Pros you dont really get to pick who you play for as a Rookie

So, Teddy (a racist, as you have defined him) wanted a career and a future paycheck. Why would Louisville offer him a better chance at that future, than the Canes? Maybe he wasn't ready to buy Goldie's used car? Anyway, Teddy's alleged racism certainly provided cover for Goldie. How convenient is that?

Where did I say Teddy is a racist? I said it was a rumor, everyone has heard this rumor. Where did I say it was true or I believed it?

Jesus Christ

Then don't bring it up... A rumor that presents this kid as a racists is nothing to bring up unless you know its true.... You don't just throw around the word "racist" or imply anything regarding it unless you kno its true... There were only 2 schools willing to give Teddy a legitimate shot at qb and that was UM and Louisville... Even when Golden came he wasn't serious about it... He was after prospects like Gary Nova, Jake Ruddock and some kid named McCade... There were fans who didn't want Teddy here... The qb rankings were a joke that year by having listed as the number 1 dual threat and Driskel as the number 1 pocket passer... Even when LSU was interested they were hinting a potential change to wr or safety becuse they felt confident with Mattenberger, who it took 5 years to be good.

Golden didn't take TBW seriously? C'mon guy. Golden got hired Dec 12th. TBW committed to UL Dec 20th. If anything TBW wasn't giving UM a sniff any longer. Golden wasn't even allowed to contact TBW during those times.

Of course he went after Nova,Ruddok, and Brisset, you expect him to not have back up plans.

And it is a FACT, which I know for 100% that Shannon promised Teddy that he would be the only QB in that class, so don't say RS was "recruiting" Brisset because that is a lie. Brisset himself even said Shannon never recruited him.

It was known throughout that recruiting cycle that we were only going to take one qb and Teddy was it... Early in the recruitment then we went after B Miller, M. Williams at UNC, Tanne McCoy at Wisky and Brisset, after looking into those players that staff thought Teddy was the only player deserving of an offer... You don't just take players to take them... We're witnessing the flaws of that method now... It turns out that the prior staff was right because Teddy was/is a better prospect than all of those qbs (Miller not being a fit)...

Once Teddy de-committed it was mentioned among news articles that the new staff and other UM insiders weren't too high on him and compared him to Jacory... We were even talking about preferring a pro-style qb, yet we were bringing in spread qbs... Teddy did speak with Golden but he didn't feel comfortable... He wasn't the sole reason why went to UL but it isn't anything to be ignored...

Obviously you ******** expect every recruit that Golden recruits to commit and they don't commit you blame him for the recruit not coming. What's he supposed to do? Force them to sign their LOI?

LBaller is right, Golden just went through the motion with Bridgewater! As a matter of fact, Barry Jackson said coaching sources told him UM were none unhappy when TB pulled the trigger for Louisville. Again, right on point that Al was all behind pulling Jake...that's where Al's head was. Mr. Ruddock (Pop) stepped up and said that Jake sticking to earlier commitment. I remember Al originally was arrogant thinking that being just the coach of the U made his ish not smell. But yes, AL would've honored UM offer to TB and that was just it.

Obviously you ******** expect every recruit that Golden recruits to commit and they don't commit you blame him for the recruit not coming. What's he supposed to do? Force them to sign their LOI?

His ******* job is to convince recruits to come to Miami. If he doesn't then he failed with that recruit. How hard is that to understand?

Either you convinced the kid to come to Miami or you didn't.

Obviously you ******** expect every recruit that Golden recruits to commit and they don't commit you blame him for the recruit not coming. What's he supposed to do? Force them to sign their LOI?

By this logic, you better never give him any credit when a recruit signs here, ya jug headed motha ****a.

In the game of college football, each recruiting cycle is precious because you gotta hit on those key guys. I'm sure there are threads on this topic illustrating all of the misses over Golden's tenure, but I wanted to look at THEE guy who Golden couldn't afford to miss over each cycle as that miss came back to haunt him.

2011: Thee guy who we couldn't afford to miss here is obviously Jacoby Brissett. Brissett would have probably beaten out Stephen Morris when Jacory Harris left. Not landing Brissett set Miami back at the money position for 3 years. I believe with Brissett under center, Miami would have won the coastal last year and this year.

2012: As I think about it, it pains me deeply that Golden couldn't hit on Amari Cooper. Coming out of Miami Northwestern which is normally a pipeline for Miami. Talk about program changing talent. Can you imagine Miami having Brissett throwing to Amari Cooper? No way around it, Cooper was the can't miss 2012.

2013: Man, you have to think what if we had Alex Collins. That would have been the lethal 1-2 punch that Miami needed this year in the backfield. Lets face it, when Duke Johnson had to go against more physical defenses, he was slowed some, but if Alex Collins could have shared some of the load, we could have won those physical games against Nebraska, Louisville and FSU.

2014: Not sure what the whole story was with Travonte Valentine, even though supposedly his grades/test scores weren't that great, but Valentine was a can't miss. I know he didn't prove anything thus far at the college level, but not being able to sign this guy was damaging to the talent level of the position and IMO a set back. It is still very bothersome that LSU was able to just take him away like that. At a position that hasn't seen that "grown *** man" caliber player since Big Vince, he would have definitely made an early impact, should he have made it in. This loss is haunting Golden right now.

First off how can a coach miss on a kid if he brought the full house and the kid still CHOSE to go elsewhere? Brissett got the red carpet treatment and his mom wanted him at UM but he got swayed his coach who was a former gator to go to UF where he made the wrong decision obviously.

2012: Golden and staff recruited Cooper but guess what Amari Cooper is 1st cousin to Aldarius Johnson....yes the same Aldarius Johnson that got kicked off the team for lying about his involvement in the Shapiro scandal so you think when Cooper went to him for advice you think Johnson told him go to UM? Let your common sense answer that

2013 Alex Collins- Again a kid that Golden and staff recruited hard til the end but got shafted cause they didn't toss Collins coach a few dollars like Bret did.

2014- You obviously know that Valentine didn't have the freakin grades if he couldn't get enrolled into LSU. Once again ignite your common sense to think.

If you want to about players that haunted us let's talk about Shannon missing on a TON of guys that we saw excelled at other institutions like Denard Robinson, Charles Gaines, Devonta Freeman, and many many many more. Let's bring that to the forefront

Ah yes, another "absolutely nothing is Al Golden's fault" themed post.

Naw...just a realest that is able to stand on his own opinion and not jump on people's ****s like you do. Formulate your own opinion and stick with it whether it is for or against AG. I could care less

I was for al but then guess what?

I woke up, you should too. You're looking pathetic. ..

Ummm you just named all offensive players except for Valentine.

Not a single one of those guys would have made a difference to this teams W-L record.

You don't at least think landing all 3 of Brissett, Cooper and Alex Collins wouldn't have made a difference? Miami would have at least won the coastal the last 2 years.

Lmfao Jacoby Brissett isn't the difference between 6-6 and an ACC title you have to be mentally disabled to believe 4 players, all of which would be backups aside from Cooper, would have resulted in a multiple game difference.

You left out his first gigantic failure, Teddy Bridgewater. A coach worth an ounce of **** would have reeled him in. Instead he committed Louisville a couple of days after meeting Al. Everyone should have known right there that Al wasn't cut out for this.

Blame Shannon for not getting Brisset, Shannon promised Teddy he'd be the only the QB in the class

What do you expect Brisset to do when no one from Miami was recruiting him until the last few weeks of the recruiting cycle

Silly post. Brisset sucks and is a non factor. Why are you even mentioning him? it was a *** up on Goldens part plain and simple. No one else to blame but his own sorry ***. You act like brisset went somewhere else and became an as. Smh.

Yep. Golden met with teddy b...golden's main focus was those other qb's you mentioned. Most folks around here was saying he was too skinny, didnt want him, move him to wr etc etc. lol dam we have a lot of fans who like to make up chit.

Golden had the no. 9 class in 2012. The No. 1 corner in the nation and the no 13 player overall in Tracy Howard. The No. 6 Safety in the nation and the no. 83 overall player in Deon Bush. The No. 20 OL in the nation and no. 205 overall player in Ereck Flowers. The No. 1 rb in the nation and the no. 30 overall player in Duke Johnson. The No. 9 DT in the nation and No. 106 overall player in Jelani Hamilton. The No. 5 LB in the nation and the No. 94 overall player in Ralph Kirby. The No. 7 overall WE rusher in the nation and the No. 92 overall player in Tyriq McCord. The No. 28 WR overall in the nation and the No. 186 overall player in Malcolm Lewis.

Those are just some of the headliners from 2012. Yes we missed out on some players, but my question is what have the above name mentioned players done while at UM under Golden and his staff's tutelage?? ****, they tried to plump up Duke and take away his high end speed!! Everyone on that list have not lived up to their billing under Golden (except Duke). So why would I think that Cooper or Brissett would make a difference here? Anthony Chickillo was the No. 3 DE in the nation and No. 44 overall player....what has he done under Golden? Artie Burns, J Grace, J. Carter...I mean I can go on and on about how Al has wasted precious, RICH talent that he's had at his disposal...no way in the world am I convinced that losing Collins, Michel, Cook, Brissett, MT6, Kirkland, Valentine...WHOEVER, would've changed a dang thing around here...not w/ that guy corchin'.

Chickillo showed promise as a freshman, then we told him to gain 100 lbs.

He showed tremendous promise as a Freshman CAA...but then we tricked off his career here. It still boggles my mind how Chick went from being an UA all-star game MVP, to a 5 sack freshman season, to getting fat, out-of-shape and told to hold position, not rush. This staff is full of straight F*ckeries. We could have the No. 1 class in 2012, 2013, and 2014 and we still would win only 7-8 games per year. We have wasted true talent here. He has used night games as an excuse, day games as an excuse, student classes as an excuse, the cloud as an excuse, family health as an excuse, teams having bye-weeks before playing us as an excuse.....I mean, aren't excuses supposed to be the tools of incompetence, used to build monuments of nothingness, and those who SPECIALIZE IN THEM SELDOM ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING??????? Well I guess we have our answer.

Chick should be happy he gained 60 pounds, now he's actually going to have an actual career in the NFL as a 5 technique. Chick was never some explosive beast like Clowney, the fact that you look at a HS All Star game to attempt to show that means nothing.

Look at how Chick never got blown off the line, and compare him to someone like Wyche who outweighs him by 50 pounds and gets pushed off like hes 100 pounds. The fact is Chick is the only one who actually did a good job on the line.

Just go check this out without any insults or some sort of slu thrown somewhere. Go check out Alabama's defense, a defense everyone would love to have. Now go to their DLine stats, look who the leading sack leader is on the DL, isn't so pretty right? The fact is Florida is suppose to have super duper athletic LBs right? Why not revolve your defense around those LBs? People always complained about McCord droppng into coverage, but guess what? That's what he'll also be doing on sundays. He won't be constantly rushing at the passer like a chicken without a head

And thats what made Shannon a complete MORON. The only scholarship QBs were Harris and Morris. One of them is a Senior. Are you going to honestly tell me you're going into a season with 3 QBs if Teddy stuck? Please answer that question with a simple yes or no

check it out.....like i said on a recruiting board, sacks...that's one thing...but this team has avg 1 qb pressure per game and went 3 games this season w/o a qb sack or hit. Go back and look at those stats from Bama and tell me how many qb pressures have been applied by that front four and how many qb hits have been applied by that front four. I'll wait....

this talent discussion is moot.

at our own campus, there's a coach who takes a MUCH less talented team to a conference title. in a much tougher conference!!!

ACC basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ACC football.

we also lose to teams who have recruited worse than us.
