The good old days at UM - 1992

Ehh. Teague had a good game. But I **** with him every time I would see him. Copeland & Curry is why that game went the way it did.
That’s just the iconic play that sealed the deal that day. I remember watching and waiting the entire game for our offense to get rolling. That play unfolded and I felt some hope. Briefly. Very briefly. Then George Teague. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah they controlled our OLine. UM looked a step behind and a step slow that entire game. Under prepared IMO for a very prepared opponent.
You also can't discount we had some MAJOR injuries by that point. We were a shell of the team we started the season as. All the same I was never impressed by Gino either & I think they were just a better team than us. No shame in that. Sometimes you run into a superior opponent. Lord knows people felt that way with us often.

I still **** with Lamar over that play. When he started doing all that ****ting I had to hype up Louisville I told him his ***** *** directly cost us a chip. Lmao. That was just the egg on the face.

I’ll let you speak on it, but as I recall, Lamar had tweaked his knee just before the end of the season.

Wide Right II was as an absolute war. You young thundercats need to put down the video game control for a second and watch what it was like when this rivalry was tops in the sport.

So unfortunately I got delayed four hours last night at the airport and rewatched this so thanks. I was at the game and two observations:

1: I did not realize how bad the field was as both teams had issues the whole game.

2: The officiating was so biased and one-sided that even Keith and Bob mentioned calls during the game.

Semper Canes!!!

First off, I was never a fan of Erickson. He like Larry Moper after him, won titles on the backs of the previous coaches' recruits. As many on here have said, once those recruits left, it was good night Irene.

As for the '92 season, it started off rocky with Andrew and all but it was still a good team, not great but good. Miami lost two of their best players, (McGuire the year prior) and Medearis and to me was not the same team. No running game, below average OL(Mario was on that line) and a average QB. Not bashing but Torretta just heaved it up a lot of times and hoped one of the Ruthless Posse came down with it.

As for the Alabama game, that was a strategic nightmare. Copeland and Curry were unblockable and Miami's offense(see above) was what it was. It was truly an end of an era(until 2000).

Were people rooting for FSU to be good back then?

Of course they were.

Remember, we "needed" F$U to be good for many years because we were an Independent, and had questionable Strength of Schedule. Exhibit A: this 1986 SI cover, below. See bullet-point #2.

Also, Miami fans "respected" F$U for "continuing to play us every year", even though they had joined the ACC.

I don’t “know” Lamar but have met him a couple times. I mentioned Teague’s name and he gave me that sideways eyes look that said “listen MF, you’re not wrong but you also weren’t on that squad with me.” I then changed the subject. 😂

I remember when the evil Vannover returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. We had just gotten to the student section and already we were behind!

We averaged less than 15 ppg vs good defenses that year...
4 top-10 teams and 'Zona.

Bama was a baaaaad match-up.

6 home games, 5 away games. Hurricane Andrew year.

Ranked Iowa away - 24-7 win
Ranked Pedo St away - 17-14 win
Ranked Syracuse away - 16-10 win (in November)

Ranked F$U rivalry at home - 19-16 win
Arizona disaster at home - 8-7 win

And 4 of the 5 games listed above came in our first 5 games over a 5 week span. Brutal way to open the season post-Andrew.

The other 6 games, we scored between 35 and 63 points per game.

@33:13 for those ash holes crying about the Andre Brown TD in the 30 for 30 "Catholics vs the Convicts".

Also @43:36-43:56 for your viewing pleasure.
