The future of the OL

Just curious, what are the chances that Bell comes back? I’m assuming FM is gone no matter what, but is there any scenario where he would get bank NIL to stay one more year? At what point does NIL come into play for guys deciding to go pro or not?

Slim. Once Bell plays more than 4 games this season, he is out of eligibility.

What are thinking for next years OL?

Pancake - McCoy - SJ?- Buchanon? - Kinsler/Transfer

This also means Bell and Francis move on obviously. McCoy and Pancake have been splitting snaps at LG. At some point these "developmental" recruits are going to have to start or move on.

I don't know why everyone writes off the couple of 2025 tackle recruits we had just cause they aren't getting that much burn right now over guys here several years. But also, I have pretty big confidence that if it came to it, Mario/Mirabal could do with the OL what we did with the CB position this coming offseason. Until proven otherwise.

Too many projects / developmental types for my liking. Not sold on Woodrow / JJ sparks. To steal Dmoney’s words….we need certain “body types” and it needs to ”look a certain way”. Don’t think those types of recruits get us there. Reminds me of the Plazz / Francavillas of the world.

Thankfully, we still have Cantwell, Joel, Pickett, and even Congdon coming in…but they’re all freshmen. In year 5 with Mario/Maribal’s background and emphasis on the OL, I would’ve expected to replace the guys we’re losing with more sure-fire players, rather than some freshmen or guys we’re HOPING hit their stride by next year.

Not sold on 6'3 300 pd centers interesting.

You do realize none of these guys other than Cantwell are expected to come in and play as freshman right?. The Plazzes and Francavilla's are the ones expected in the 2 deep or maing strides.

Not the same player. Mauigoa is way more polished than cantwell is. He was at img and cantwell is playing at some small school in Missouri
Yeah Img is like playing football at a junior college. Cici had all the training he needed to come in and start.

which ones are you speaking on to move on because the developmental guys we are speaking on have all been here at most 2 szns or under a year.

Based on what D says, Rodriguez should be back next year. If so, he's our starting center. SJ will need another year but he should be good by 2027.

I fully expect Cantwell to start at one of the guard spots, or at least rotate in. I expect Ervin to rotate in as well next year.

We'll need a nice NIL package to keep McCoy and Samson so that we can keep them on the left side. If Bell doesn't come back, might have to roll with McCoy at LT. I would go to the portal for a starting RT, tbh, because I don't know that Kinsler will be ready. I think he's the key to this OL next year.

So, a top 8 of: McCoy, Samson, RRod, Cantwell, Portal, Kinsler, Ervin, ??.

Buchanon/Minaya factor in on your question mark.....

Im expecting portal for sure......

We know Mirabol plays 8. So need that infusion and injury depth.

Might as well throw Campbell and Wilkerson into the minaya/buch mix since I know the coaches are fans. But 3-4 of those guys are project types so it might not be for another 1-2 years before we see anything from them.

I’m in Joplin, MO getting ready to watch Cantwell and Nixa vs Joplin. I have some Canes gear on and as I approached the concession stand, one of the workers said “this might be Cantwelll’s father.” Now I’m 6 ft. tall and 200 lbs, much of which is in my belly. I said, “no, there’s no way I could have a son as big as Jackson.” 😂🙌🏼

HILARIOUS...HEY CANTWELLS DAD

Watching Cantwell last night reminded me of the movie The Blindside when Michael Oher drives the defender downfield 15 yards. That happened several times. Joplin had a couple of big DL that were injured unfortunately and didn’t suit up. On a couple of plays, Jackson was matched against a 5’ 8”, 200 lb. “child.” It was a grown-*** man vs a boy all night long. He did show some mobility when he shed his defender and blocked on screen passes a few times.
