He’s from about 45 mins from where I’m from, but it’s a world away in terms of culture. He’s going to be a beast with us, but it’ll take some time to adjust as it does for most. The comp that he faces down in Tuscarawas County is next level bad. He has absurd upside, though. He and Cantwell might be the new McKinney and Gonzalez.

This was something I found intriguing. On one hand I like that if Mario doesnt see what he likes on greentree, he seems fine going to the portal, Matt Lee was a NFL player at C, carpenter was okay and Brock seems fine through 2 games but I was surprised we did not have anyone ready to go.

With that said Mario has said himself he wants to sign 20 OL every year he knows it is a numbers game. Do we lose a **** ton next year with Coop, FM and potentially Bell?? **** yes but we should free up a lotttt of NIL dollars, those three aint cheap. Im sure some of those funds already are going to Cantwell but I dont doubt Mario could get a good OL out of the portal if needed to fill a spot.

It is also a weird position to allocate NIL to.... You see guys like FM and Cantwell and think cant miss day 1 starters, if it turns out true, dollars well spent, but you wont find too many situations like Samson where it seemingly may work out, big *** NIL package, rides the bench for 2 years and sticks it out. Got to have a decent mix of development and elite guys at that position.

I think they’ll want to add some experience especially replacing Cici, Cooper, Brockermeyer, and possibly Bell. I have full faith in the development but I don’t see them passing up “sure things” in the portal. We’ll be a destination.

You are correct, of course. Samson is a good case. I remember at this point last year, he was soooo underwhelming when he got in there which prompted the questions on this board of will this kid ever be good? One year has made a huge difference. Let's see where we're at next summer with these guys, but we'll have to pull the trigger on portals in the winter/spring.

Too bad RRod doesn't have eligibility left after this season. He'd be the ideal guy at center next year.

i think he does though maybe has a med redshirt in there somewhere.

they vlue seniority at the center position because maybe its alot of line calls etc...which is why they portaled that every year. And so far has done a great job with it as all the portal centers have hit.

If Rodriguez in fact does....(which i think he does) its why we saw him at center the other night and sj at guard allowing rrod to get as much live center reps as he could...which allows us to just grab BPA in the portal at OL an not necessarily a center.

We'll definitely need 1-2 OL types. I suppose it depends on who returns. Returning Bell, Samson, McCoy is a pipe dream but I'm hoping for 2 of them returning.

if we get less than 2-3 return we need vets with real reps in the building for that 26 schedule.

This board is consistent in its love for players when they are recruits and the ****ting on them the minute they are here for next year's recruits. 6 months ago, Luke Nickel was the future. Today i read multiple posts about how he'll never play here and we need to go to portal and how Coleman probably isn't it either. Needless to say, many NFL teams need to be recruiting on this board for their next GMs....we got real talent that see the future right here.
