The FSU game crowd

Imagine when we're finally in the BIG10 and our home schedule has Ohio State, USC, and Oregon. Instead, next year we get Troy, Cal, GT, Louisville, UVA and an unnamed garbage team.

Amazing, brother! I remember it as if it was yesterday. We took the Bruins souls that day.

They were ranked #3 and fighting for a spot in the BCS championship game. The fact that our Canes willed themselves to victory was, in my opinion, the catalyst for the return of our dominance. It signaled to the FBS world that we were coming. (PAUSE)

Also, I can’t recall us ever storming the field either after any other game. Excellent observation, as usual. You’re the G.O.A.T., brother!

And this was the week after we got our doors blown off by Syracuse 66-13. That was an amazing turn around

Most students are there to hang with their friends. The minute someone mentions going to a bar or club they are out. It’s not unique to our fanbase

The student turnout was an embarrassment. How they don't fill their sections for our biggest rivalry and biggest home game of the season is beyond me.

Besides that, it was good crowd. Upper end zones were a bit sparse for a supposed "sell-out," but that's to be expected when the school tries to rip off its fans with overpriced nosebleed tickets, and then dumps them onto the secondary market at the last minute.
The majority of the students don’t have any ties to Miami or care about the rivalry. They are mostly rich kids from somewhere else. Student turnout at games has been abysmal for a long time.

I think a lot of folks likely partied too hard and bailed.

But, anyways, I was chuckling after the fact because this sweet old man in front of me dipped at 28-21 and I felt pretty comfortable myself that FSU wasn't going to score so I understood why he was getting a beat on traffic and then that 75 yard pass happened. I was wondering after the game if he decided to stay or not and watch the end.

My in laws went to Penn State. They were at the Miami-Penn State game in 1999 at the OB and left right before PSU hit that 80 yard pass (very similar to the FSU play) because my mother in law wanted to beat the traffic.

This will never change. I still remember my first Orange Bowl game, swaths of people left the Orange Bowl as UCLA took a 38-21 lead in that 1998 game.

I do think that college towns and their fans are different than big metropolitan cities. I see a lot of the same stuff in Los Angeles...

It happens in New Orleans. Tulane students leave at halftime even it's a close game unless it's something like the conference championship game or a game against Ole Miss or someone like that. I don't understand leaving at halftime against FSU, in a close game, even if it means you get back to campus at a bad hour.
