This is not a "call out", just an observation to see if I wasnt seeing things....first, overall, the crowd was awesome, especially in the 4th Q and OT...however, as halftime wound down and everyone else started settling back in, did it seem like about 5-7k people left? That was a little disappointing but for those of us that stayed, excellent work!

You would be surprised the amount of people who leave game early or even arrive like halftime.. Probably just go back to tailgate or whatever reason.. It happens every game. Also Hard rock has the whole suite area that is always full of people just sitting around talking and such and never go back to their seat

Glad you started this thread. Atmosphere was great...especially towards the end. But 2 things that irked me bigtime on Saturday.

1) A herd of students leaving at halftime. I was walking down the circular ramps from 200 to 100 level to say hello to some friends and I see dozens of students leaving the stadium. Mind you, score is 14-14, against your biggest rival...and you're leaving at halftime? It's like they want to get back to campus to sit in their dorms. Just ****ed me off.

2) I'm hurrying back to my seats with a few minutes left before the 2nd half starts and the concourses are SLAMMED with our fans just mingling, no urgency to get back to their seats. All sitting in high tops, drinking their ****tails, with no care in the world that the game is about to start. Different priorities I guess.

The student turnout was an embarrassment. How they don't fill their sections for our biggest rivalry and biggest home game of the season is beyond me.

Besides that, it was good crowd. Upper end zones were a bit sparse for a supposed "sell-out," but that's to be expected when the school tries to rip off its fans with overpriced nosebleed tickets, and then dumps them onto the secondary market at the last minute.

I assumed that upper endzone gap was FSU returned tickets they never resold

The overflow upper corner sections for the students was a joke. I think the bus line is what prevents them from staying. Drives me insane.

I think a lot of folks likely partied too hard and bailed.

But, anyways, I was chuckling after the fact because this sweet old man in front of me dipped at 28-21 and I felt pretty comfortable myself that FSU wasn't going to score so I understood why he was getting a beat on traffic and then that 75 yard pass happened. I was wondering after the game if he decided to stay or not and watch the end.

I’ve seen people with court-side seats leave tied basketball games w/ a few minutes left to go. Never understand it.

Don’t think it’s strictly a miami problem or a distance problem, as teams w/ on-campus stadiums still see second half exoduses of students; to a lesser extent

they don't really care about the outcome of the game. they are just there to have some fun

likely students leaving at halftime, are going to meet up with friends at bars/clubs to enjoy the rest of the night. they dont care that its a tie game

and yes i would agree this happens other places too, but in Miami there's just a lot more going on than a small college town type place

One more I remembered. Some dude in the row behind me just got up and left when FSU scored in the 3rd quarter to make it 21-14. His words "let me leave now before I get more upset". Never came back. It's a one score game with 1.5 quarters remaining in the biggest home game of the year, against our rival....and you just leave because they scored a TD? Between this and the 2 other things I mentioned above, just an absolute joke from our "fans".

Speaking as a season ticketholder and someone who's been to hundreds of Canes games in my lifetime, I can say that the same two groups of people almost always leave at halftime; Students and elderly people (like 70+ year olds).

I can understand the elderly leaving at half, but students leaving is the reason why I always scoff at people wanting an on or near campus stadium. Why? The people who go and stay for the whole game are the south Florida market fans, not the campus fans.

I just don't get it. I guess everyone is wired differently. But I could never picture myself sitting in the concourse area, talking nonsense with people while the Canes are literally playing live in that stadium. If people want to sit on a couch, "in AC", while drinking a ****tail....just stay home.

Be prepared to have 45k for a Noon game while having the #1 team.
Would have been fine if Pitt didn't drop games to BC and Pitt that they easily could have won even without their QB.

Then again.. they would probably be top 20 and it would be gameday or primetime and noon wouldn't apply

Student section turnout was 75%... mind you tickets for the game amongst students crashed Ticketmaster and sold out QUICKLY. Many of these same students that claimed a ticket went to a dumb EDM concert to do molly and LSD instead.

With respect to student section, remember, there are many attendees that are there for the social aspect, not the game; not unique to students, seen it high school, college and pro ball, won’t change unless you indoctrinate them (I.e., win the Natty!).

PS. From an insider, many students didn’t get into the stadium until well into the 1st quarter, with many sent to upper deck.
