Did you see the rivals article on shaq? Was wondering how accurate articles like are to what was actually said

Time to Dig in our heals & get to work. We Must get 10 wins
this upcoming campaign to Set it off in '16. We appreciate the
insight U provide on the trail. This team needs to bite down on
their mouthpieces & get it done.

Go Canes !

1st Qtr: Pros - get an early start and your recruits become one of the tools you can use to recruit more recruits. Commits are not likely to jump ship during the 1st Qtr.
Cons - Kids are high on emotions and get with the first gurl that walks through the club doors..its still happy hour...the Stallions will be in later

2nd Qtr: Pros-Kids are excited about football sleeping in their helmets...Working hard at being great dreaming of the millions and realizing pennies are for loafers
Cons: Coaches are lurking on campus everyday from all four corners of the country...Promising the Mac Fries that will cross your eyes...The Mac Shakes that will make you Quake. The pretty gurls have just entered the building

This is the first stage were you can start losing recruits because they are being showered with offers and feel wanted like never before...Staff has to be hot and heavy ...75 percent of the staff should be focused on the recruits we have..countering the noise they will be hearing..the other 25 percent needs to seek out other need (the better recruiter is the 25 percent) Hurlie and Ice

I'd say for this class specifically, we need to spend much more effort at keeping the guys we have committed than at getting new guys.

3rd Qtr: Pros- Kids are playing football again ... going on OVs watching their future team play. ..meeting up with your future team mates ... its getting close to being a cane
Cons- Kids taking visits to other schools that will be pulling out all the stops...have the little cute gurls showing them around campus...Your future team not winning...the not winning is not so bad for the kids as it is for the adult fans...because the kids are full of **** and vinegar and honestly think they will change all that....But if your team is winning that is gravy for the taters

Sadly, this is the quarter of recruiting that Golden completely fails at.

Funny, that is also the quarter it usually all unravels on the field as well

Long commercial break between third and fourth quarter. I want to see how this ends! Don't leave us hanging Papa Shaq.

Love your stuff Papa Shaq. Your point of view is very refreshing. Old school alum donor like myself has been beaten into complete depression by Donna and her coaches.

4th Qtr: Pros: If you have kept your class intact to this point all you have to do is close. Early Enrollment is the trend so those that are all in will be on campus in a couple of weeks and you can avoid any bombs going off on NSD. Thinking 2016 will have 8 to 10 EEs.
Cons: If shigity is going to happen the 4th Qtr is when it will hit the fan. Any unraveling that took place in the 2nd or 3rd Quarters is going to come to light here in the 4th. Any recruiting alliances that have been formed will get tested in the 4th. At this point it will take the bond of the kids to keep this thing together... If there is no bond then... there is no together. Coaching could possibly be brand new and they don't even know these kids... so it will be a difficult task for them to sell them. If the incumbent staff remains there is nothing that they would be able to sale in the 4th that they have not already attempted to sale in the first three quarters

best case scenario with a coaching change is that the new coach keeps the guys with So Fla ties like Baez, Beard, Hurlie, Ice and Coley to keep some relationships in the class (not to mention these guys are recruiting beasts anyway) The only one that may be tough to keep in the event of a coaching change is Coley since his position is so important and not a spot you keep a "recruiter" unless he's also a competent coach (he may be, but it remains to be seen IMO). I think the aforementioned guys can be the glue for the class if/when Golden gets fired. I think its safe to say that no recruit will miss Paul Williams or D'uh anyway.

The key IF there's a coaching change from the 3rd to 4th quarters is for the AD to have a very short list of candidates, and hire someone within a week or 2, tops. If you know you're firing Chumley, have 3 guys lined up ranked in order of who you want to offer first. You make the offers, you get the hire done quickly. You tell them to get the staff together ASAP so they can finish out recruiting strong.

In a perfect world, we fire Chumley on Saturday, Nov 28th. We have a new coach in place by at worst, Monday, Dec 7th (hopefully by the 1st--which would give from approx. 12/1 to 12/15 to recruit in person before the dead period). If it's an established guy like Butch, he can have a staff in place with a combination of (very few) holdovers and then guys he wants to bring in by the New Year. During that time, they can still communicate in writing and electronically to schedule official visits. Once the dead period is lifted and things are opened back up from mid-January to the start of February...you can haul in the official visitors and put the full-court press on to retain the kids you want and to sell the high end kids on the new vision.

In other words, we need to move fast after Chumley is canned (if that does indeed happen) to allow the max amount of time for the new staff to make sure they're able to get a hold of the Shaq Quarterman's of the world and their families to let them know that they're still wanted, that they're still a part of Miami's plan going forward, and that a staff who cares about Shaq and his future will be in place ASAP. AND--most importantly, that things will be going in a better direction than the previous regime had it going.
