The Foreclosure (7/12)

We spent 2 mil (rumored) on the number 1 OT recruit, with all the negative (yet valid) points made in this thread.

Money talks. Plain and simple at this point. A 5 star wr just commited to Syracuse. We want what the top 10 has, we gotta spend like the top 3. Once the roster is loaded, even Mario can't ***** it up.

But us as fans can say spend all day long. But the people writing the checks make the decisions. So from my perspective I have low expectations and I tell myself to be happy with my free lunch.

Perfectly said. The ingredients for this season have all been bought. They’re waiting for the chef. Whip up a tasty meal again this year and maybe the neighbors start to get a whiff and wanna see what’s going on over there.

Then maybe we see if we can start shopping in a different aisle going forward. But for as bleak as recruiting looks for this minute, at the end of the day this is a football program, and not a recruiting program. I’m as guilty as anyone at getting wrapped up into crooting, and for **** sure you don’t win long-term without the horses, but at this minute in time, we’re about to embark on an incredibly critical season for this program. And we have enough horses in the stable now to make some noise. It’s about time to go do it. The only way to change narratives are to force differing facts down people’s throats. Back to back 10 win seasons, a first playoff birth, a first ACC title….those things matter.

As a football coach, you’re judged on what you do on the football field. Period. Go make some noise on a bunch of em this fall.
Excellent, well written post.

He develops OL pretty well but his staffs have been lacking in development as a whole. Picking a guy or two out here and there is nowhere near enough. Just like his receiving classes theres gaps. Areas that lack. Consistency is one area Mario struggles with in a multitude of areas.
im not saying he's perfect but he at least tries to correct things. Golden could has still been our coach if he fired his bf.

Hope we don't end up playing Texas the next couple years with the scouting Mama Cooper has done at all the practices she

Papi, go contribute at least 25.00 a month.

Golden was terrible. He didn’t recruit good enough and he wasn’t a good coach on gameday either. Why would he fire the guy for running the defense he wanted?
he was not terrible at development and he was not a horrible recruiter. he was recruiting with one hand behind his back and still won recruiting battles. the guy found Thurston ambrister and Olsen Pierre and turned them into NFL players.
I cant stand the guy but he was a bitter for being suckered into taking the UM job.

Great, so I'll expect you on the Mario bus if we're in the playoffs despite these recruiting issues. Because that's what this season should produce for us. If it doesn't happen, then I'll accept he's not going to get it done.
lol I’d be thrilled to be wrong. I don’t think he’s that smart or that good a coach but I accept that he’s here for years regardless of what happens this season or next.

but he can develop talent. the guy has put plenty of good players into the nfl. he just needs more talent to overcome his issues.

thats the point. I was not a Mario fan. I didnt want that hire to be honest but if he dont get it going, we are DONE. he has to make it work.

But but but “It smells like ****** in here” 😂😂

Love when posters can only respond with quotes like that to simple, factual posts like you presented; instead, they resort to out-toughing their opposing posters and beating their chest as if they’re the strongest of the bunch.

Sort of like our inept and limited HC.
Those are the posts I hate on here. Tough guy **** in response to someone trying to have a civil discussion with facts.

Armbrister and Pierre wasn’t good lol. Idc if they got a chance in the nfl. They weren’t good here. He was bad at development. Chickillo and bush are prime examples. And was a bad recruiter. Landing a handful of good players then loading up the rest of the class with guys who aren’t Miami caliber isn’t good recruiting.

**** o-line couldn’t even block clemson when they were sending only 3 rushers. Team got physically dominated whenever they played anybody with a pulse. Your memory must be clouded because it was bad

You underestimate Mario.
