Billy is a likable guy (and I believe a good guy) and though we all love a Billy in a locker gif the man is able to relate to people. He is not Prison Mike.

In my opinion, the SEC and big boy ball in general (we play that sometimes) is too fast for him and will always handicap him (familiar line) unless they were to create an infallible roster (familiar line).

No inside baseball here but Florida already seems to be recovering from their funny money reputation; way quicker than expected.

We would have been in the playoffs if we played Florida twelve times last year. But we didn’t and we didn’t so no reason to discount their own recruiting efforts (though I agree with the sentiment that some of their commits feel more like rankings kids rather than kids whom I buy into being real contributors).

I have a whole nother sermon on why I appreciate Mario as a man and a coach and why we’re not seeing the full fruits of that character on the recruiting trail (though we have definitely seen it and esp in player retention) but I have done enough on the box for tonight.

Meanwhile in that time Billy has had one class finish inside the top 13 which was last year at #7 while being an absolute disaster on the field and the trail (Rashada debacle). For a guy whose strongest attribute as a coach is recruiting, outperforming those two is far from a “major accomplishment”.

Matter of fact, I’d argue finishing behind the turds last year is a major disappointment. Especially after our season while losing top recruits to them at the close (whatever the reason why).

We’re recruiting against a guy who went 13-0 and had a 2 year advantage on Mario and was allegedly on bamas short list of hires not my words that’s what was reported.

Billy had legacy recruits and buyout money to help him and the sell of a qb for the future to help bring In some skill guys with high rankings.

Mario is an elite recruiter and one of the best if not the best in the country. His accolades speak for themselves. The reason we’re losing kids isn’t because he’s not a top recruiter it’s a multitude of factors like we’re in a **** conference. Also we have the most negative community spewing bull**** to kids pushing them to the sec and Ohio state.

That’s not his fault he’s recruiting at a top 10 clip that’s a fact. We as fans need to pack the stadium and create an atmosphere for the games that can help him sell this dream. We have to stop bad mouthing him every chance we get. **** we’re already hated by everyone else.Why the **** do we need it in our own house. He’s not perfect but he is better then anyone else we’ve had in here since Butch Davis.

Ask again in 3 years. He’s not on the hot seat with the powers that be until at least year 6. If he doesn’t make the playoff this year, the wheels may come off.

But the local recruits are in a position to directly improve the results on the field, while the fans aren't. That's the difference. And I'm not blaming the local recruits, but they seem to be more interested in joining teams that are already winning than going to their hometown school and helping it return to contention. Its the same mentality that leads them to high schools like AH, STA, CM and a couple of others instead of staying at Dillard or Ely and making their local HS great.

Okay so did you see my question? If they think they've recruited better than us, the only logical thought is that they also would prefer their classes over ours......
