The first step in changing culture? Get these juniors to stay, none of them are ready for the NFL.

Surprised nobody said it but an easy way to get these kids to consider staying is to WIN this season and get them to buy in that we have a chance to win the ACC next year now that Clemson could finally look beatable without Lawrence and Etienne. Manny has to sell that to kids like Phillips, Nesta, Blades who might be crazy enough to consider leaving. Scaife leaving might actually improve the OL. Hes been horrible. So he better not even think of leaving. I think Brevin would consider staying if King was convinced to come back. No way he comes back to potentially having a new guy under center. (TVD)

People keep bringing up Bama and Clemson and OSU being able to convince kids to stay but the sell job isnt hard at all.."Hey, want to come back and make a go for another national title run? Why leave if you arent going to be 1st round? Whaddaya say?"

End the season well. End the season on a high. And then you have something to sell. We flop like we have the last X amount of years and be prepared for all of them on that list to leave honestly.

Alabama still has 4 out the 6 five stars from their 2017 class still on their team. But our 3 star dudes will bounce to the **** cfl after 3 years if some street agent in a borrowed c-class tells them “go get paid”.
you mean a rented camaro.....

The most sad part is that when guys leave early to be undrafted it paints them in a bad light by our fanbase. These were guys that put on for the U. But then made a dumb decision. It’s their decision but man we would be much better with some of those guys back

If Manny was smart, he would bring back as many players as possible from the last 4 years that declared early and are unemployed and have have them talk to the juniors that are thinking of declaring.
Just pay Yearby and Bandy to do a joint seminar once a week.

Bolden is getting beat in coverage pretty steadily. There's zero chance he's even drafted in the first 5 rounds. Phillips hasn't put a tenth of the plays on tape that Joe Jackson and Garvin did and neither of them got drafted before round 5. Phillips in top 4 rounds is ludicrous before you even bring in his injury history. Nesta rounds 3-4, jesus christ, Willis didn't even get drafted and he played at a level 2-3 times higher than Nesta.

Our fans do this every year and are never right. Just as dumb as the players.

Based on the first half of 2020, if you were to walk up to these juniors and ask them today, they would each tell you they are leaning turning pro.

RB Harris
WR Pope
TE Mallory
TE Jordan
OL Scaife
OL Gaynor
DL Phillips
DL Silvera
LB Jennings
DB Bolden
DB Blades
P Hedley

Bringing in players from high school programs that don't accept mediocrity and strive for perfection.

Bolden is the only kid ready for the NFL, but these dopes will leave as usual.

Bolden is ready to be a 4th rounder. He has no tape and while he makes plays for us is nowhere near perfect and gets caught out of position either in coverage or when coming down and making tackles.

They all can use another year to elevate their draft stock.

First step in changing culture is quit accepting bullshyt effort from players and demand more from them.

There's nothing wrong with the culture of this team that a great leader couldn't fix. All we hear about is what great kids we have. Then, they're here for a couple years, and they're all knuckleheads. These kids, like any other kids, will do what they're led to do.
I think you underestimate how long leadership takes with certain teams

Yup, let them know they only got one shot at this and honestly it’s the best to get drafted as high as you can.

don’t save yourself and leave it all out there because when your UDFA or a 7th rounder you can have a cup of coffee before you find yourself selling insurance

Didn’t say which round but the kid is definitely ready for the next level. His instincts you can’t teach.

Fans need to remember who we have as corch'es. Shaq stayed and regressed for 4 yrs and went in the 4 rd

If you have the opportunity to fulfill your dreams and make six figures doing it, you go and do it. Especially if you can come back and still get your degree for free.

Those projections are even high. I doubt Nesta, Blades and Scaife even get drafted. Bolden has what 8 games of film here? Phillips even less. Jordan is the only one who should even be thinking about the league besides Rousseau. I thought Cam was gone as well but he hasn't done **** in 3 games.

I said what I said.

inspired by the thread that says winning changes the culture. That’s only true if you keep some of these mid round players back for their senior year. That is how you seperate a top 25 team from a top 15 team, to then building a top 5 program.

this year we squeak out victories by 1 TD. Next year we change those victories to comfortable 2 TD victories, and so on and so forth.

This is Diaz biggest test yet - keep these guys at Miami because none of them other than Rousseau should leave:

-Jordan (would be 2nd round but injuries drop to 3-4)
-Phillips (3rd -4th)
-Silvera (3rd-4th)
-Bolden (3rd, maybe 2nd if he continues the play. He’s the one I would say deserves to declare)
-Blades (5th - 6th)
-Scaife (5th-6th)

a coach who knows how to motivate his players and sell (important for college coaches) would also convince a couple of the players below to stay:
-King
-Roche
-Jarrid Williams
-McCloud (joking)
Bingo,.. raw talent is great when that talent IS great. We have a lot of guys with talent and skill, but they’re not great, .. yet, may never be. Waiting to play, learning your position, working on your skill set, is not where we are at. Back in the day we had guys lined up waiting their turn. Not so much now. We had guys pushing to play and pushing those ahead to be great. We are not there yet. Lack of depth, it’s better but not good. A lot of these players have an overinflated sense of their talent and worth. A lot of factors contribute to this, but failure to be honest with these kids from friends and family and coaches is tantamount. Having a college degree is always a good fallback position. Selling these kids that the U is a good path to the next level, also applies to other career choices than the NFL,. Just sayin’

Agree with everything here. Our biggest problem has been our two deep. We have had ballers but the drop off has been significant. If these players stay and we get the infusion of talent from the 21 class, we a top 5 team

This is all the difference right here. The average physicality and strength between 22/23 year olds vs 18/19 is tremendous. Theres a lot of growing that goes on in that time frame.
