What you are saying about Cristobal- he's a top recruiter, he builds the trenches, etc is the nearly the exact same thing that was said about Richt. Richt wanted to build a SEC OL, except the problem is Bama and the bag schools were still taking the best OL even with Richts super recruiter status, and we ended up with a SEC-lite OL that tried to play like SEC linemen, but without nearly as much talent.

Unfortunately Richt was a very bad recruiter.

I haven’t been ok with Manny since snap one of the Bama game.

Regardless, his failures should have nothing to do with Mario’s results and potential future here. That should be judged on it’s own merit.

And as far as being ok with early playoff talk, haven’t you called our run in 2017 with Richt fraudulent? Well I hate to break it to you, but this Oregon season was exactly the same ride.
 
Don’t want Mario…he does **** the bed more times than I’d like against inferior teams. Unlike most people on this board, I think he’d have been way more desirable to us if he had made the playoff this year. Him losing to two vastly inferior teams is a huge red flag.

He’s obviously still a massive upgrade over Danny Miaz, but I just don’t want us to overpay for a coach who can’t consistently beat the teams he’s supposed to beat. Especially with far superior talent. Just doesn’t bode well for us long term.

Idk…I was actually rooting for Mario to win that game. The way Oregon lost just ain’t a good look fellas.

No one can make recruits ignore bad losses. To make the next step in recruiting a coach needs to stop losing to inferior opponents.

Nah man. Recruiters recruit. If what your saying was true, then TROb would be recruiting the same as Rumph was. Gotta be able to sell it. Mario can do that as well as any.
 
We really should not be all in on Mario.
Kiffin, Herman, and Stoops and maybe even Freeze should be interviewed.
First step is to create the opening so we can see who reaches out, we may be surprised.

@TimeBum i understand exactly what your saying with LSU. But you what else they had? The best young Offensive mind and a vet Highly regarded offensive mind on staff. Along with the talent like a Joe B and NFL guys at each skill position on offense..now what happened after Natty? That QB and skill left. But more importantly the young OC did as well..as for that LSU defense, go actually look at that talent.

Back to my opening point tho..Is Mario willing to change his idea of the winning formula? Is he willing to be less conservative with game management..will he be ok with a more open attacking style offense . Depending on complimentary football is great ( see UGA 2021) and it’s a foundation u can instill in your team’s culture but you better have some elite elite talent especially on Defense to depend on that every week in today’s cfb. when you can recruit athletes (miami/Oregon) who can create advantages 1vs1 and win at a high rate..get you a OC whose philosophy is that..yes it might put some strain on even the most talented defense (see 2019 LSU and Bama these recent years) it’s worth it. Even with my concerns about Mario and the humor I get in CIS thinking he’s the savior..for Miami he should be option A.. the rest depends on his assistant coach’s and staff. If he embraces what we do on offense from a philosophy front, it’s a home run
 
I have UGA friends of mine that wanted to run Kirby out of town because he would always have 1-2 losses every year that he shouldn’t have had. They also got boatraced on the scoreboard in some of those too. UGA gets a top 3 recruiting class every year. We’ll see if they can pull it off, but they look primed to take it all this year.

I totally understand the game day argument against Mario. But one thing this university needs is someone he can ball out in recruiting. JMO.

Our ride was a fluke. These guys have some serious talent that Mario recruited. Mario could fail here as well as Lane I would be the first one to destroy any signs of incompetence. Oregon has never seen classes of the level they are recruiting now in their entire history. It's tricky cause most of the names we hear Lane Mario etc can still all fail.

Their QB got hurt in part…McKee is actually a good QB. The backup (who started the year I believe) is TRASH. Stanford literally had no chance with him in there. But I’m not defending Mario’s absolute bareback blowout, more so just highlighting Stanford’s nosedive.

LOL... James Williams and Kam were recruited by Banda, Khamauri Rogers by DVD... Leonard Taylor by Stroud. Thad by Hickson, Garcia by Rhett... Trequon Fegans was recuited by TRob but decommited.

You guys keep telling me about TRob being so great, but we literally have the worst recruiting class we may have ever had and we have DBs that cant play zone...

I just dont live in a world where what people say or what I once thought matters more than results. If we had such great recruiters then our record wouldnt matter, TRob would not have his best targets decommiting and we would have a top 15 class right now.

The only strength in this class are the DBs,..***ans is from Bama at a Bama pipe line..and Bama finally came calling..Rogers is from Mississippi and they got him committed strong. And the kid graves has big boy offers and Has stuck..along with Williams. Through all the bull**** and a bad szn..that’s good recruiting by TRob and the rest of the staff
