The Eyeball Test (underclassmen)

It is annoying

The worst is our punt return position where they can put any number of people into a random jersey number. My family thinks its funny because I refer to it as witness protection.

But if that is the most annoying thing about watching hurricane football, I will take it. God knows we have had much bigger issues than that.
I think they put Restrepo back there for the last one with instructions just catch it. We don't need more field position. Also it was closer to our goal so they didn't want to ***** up the score.

DLinemen we've recruited are just straight up different. We ain't get'em like that for a while now. These aren't no Leonard Taylors and Jon Garvins out there.

Justin Scott looks unreal to me. Consistency should come. But the splash plays and just seeing him around the ball when he's in translates as long as the heart is there to be consistent and get better. Both weeks.

McConathy looks good to me. He's not a splash player. But I when he's in, the ******* son of Colin McCarthy will be a guy for us. I like the effort. He puts in work, but still needs to get more comfortable at this level.

Frederique is the real deal.
Lmao you can’t compare these young pups to these guys yet (Garvin and Taylor). We don’t know what they will become yet. Both those guys showed promise early on, just made dumb decisions at the end of junior years to go pro early. People thought both would be great after flashing early. Just didn’t have the drive. But that’s every guy in those eras of Miami football. You bring these same 2 guys in as freshmen under this team that has great culture and great leadership (players and coaches), their mindset would be much different IMO. So it’s just not a fair comparison. Too many variables

I wasn’t super impressed with Samson. I see why McCoy, Bell and Rodriquez play over him. I think we’ll be just fine at the LT spot next season when Rivers graduates. Bell was impressive, and he’ll only get better

We can’t learn anything from games like yesterday

Only thing I ever pay attention to is how our guys look off the bus and when they hit the field against these teams we shouldn’t be playing

We’ve been lied to by recruiting services and insiders for years on how big and fast our guys are

Every year I watch the S&C coach get blamed for just recruiting smaller weaker players than we think

Some young guys that stood out physically to me yesterday:

1. Patterson. It was FAMU but lord that kid is gonna be good

2. Blount. No way he’s 17. Man child

3. Josh Horton. Been hoping to see him more and he didn’t disappoint. Physically overwhelming a team a good player should

4. Artravious Jones. It was quick but that kid looked like he ate Earl Moore

5. Popo. Our LBs are just different now. Could lump Hayes in here too

Also I think it was Daylen Russell very quick on the sidelines. Not making any claims but that dude was a dump truck.

Anyway…just curious who stood out to yall in a game where we just really can’t make any observations. I know Justin Scott is an obvious one as well
Really not trying to be debbie downer here...

Negatives:
- Sam Brown
-- Unimpressed so far for what was supposed to be #1 WR who could take tops of D

- Ray Ray Joseph
-- Not sure what it is, maybe he's jjst trying too hard to make the big play, but just seems that it isn't clicking for him at this level to be a meaningful contributor

Mid
- C Johnson
-- Always feels he's a shoestring away from 80yd run...why isn't he KR/PR?

Going out of your way to post the same things you’ve been saying in a thread that doesn’t have anything to do with it….

From the stands, when Hayes had that kick off I hit I had to go “who the **** is that”. Right next to me. I was impressed with him and the LBs

Honestly , I think all the young players impressed me outside of the WRs

I think JoJo will be fine. But outside of our top 4, that depth makes me nervous. Love Ray Ray, but I just don’t know as a WR what his ceiling is. When the second string WR we’re in, felt like I could see a huge drop off in body types. Hoping they make me eat crow.

It's easier to pick out the young pups who aren't physically impressive. You pointed out aside from the freshmen Popo and I can't echo that sentiment enough, felt like me & @Dwinstitles were Co president's of the Popo fan club when he was recruited. I expect Popo to be our starting MLB next year.
Popo can cover for a linebacker, thats like the first tape when I thought to myself holy **** we recruiting like a real program again. Saban wanted Popo bad

I do wonder if there's a little bit of politics going on with Lyle - he looks very good, but so does Allen (and always has when he's been given a chance).

Surprised (but not complaining) about the depth chart of the RB room because for me it's clearly Martinez and then Allen as the best two (with Lyle third, Fletcher fourth and CJ as a 3rd down back).
well, if i have a frosh and a junior with the same ability, you play the younger guy

Wait....did I miss something?

My bad...
There’s a Sam Brown thread. There’s several observations and concerns threads going on at the moment

So to go out of your way to post those in a thread about how our under classmen look physically is being a Debbie Downer yes

Not a new guy but watching Mesidor walk next to barrow on the sideline he looks like a freak definitely DT body

Yeah I know DT was a concern coming into the year, and I’m not saying it’s not valid

But when a guy like Bain comes back, Barrow/Mesidor and the LBs behind them…Moten and Horton coming along…our run defense might not be too shabby

I was really impressed with a lot of the young LBs. Popo, Pruitt, Hayes and Pickett are going be quite the group going forward next year.

Same with DLine I thought Cole did decent he’ll only keep getting better. Blount and Scott are going be unreal.

The secondary has some potential as well Oj is holding his own and Zaquan made some plays I think we’ll continue to see him get increased play as season goes along.

I’m far from an expert on OLine but I truely believe we need to give alot of the second team and young guys more reps they need the experience. Especially Samson and Bell, I still believe Samson can live up to his 5* but he needs to continue working hard and work his way in to get more reps.

Jordan Lyle looked promising in both games so far. Frederique is rarely tested but has some tools. Pruitt was flying around.

On the other end of the spectrum. I was disappointed not to see Bobby Washington, been a good little while since he's been mentioned.
I think Bobby got in like the last defensive series #17. He looked fast, that’s really it though 😂.
