Confirmed The expectation is that Kevin Steele will be hired as Miami’s defensive coordinator, per sources

Did this guy have to interview for 5 hours or 5 weeks or whatever that story was for Mario‘s interview process?? If not, we don’t want him right? Jokes - don’t know much about him, but looks like he’s bringing a lot of experience.

My biggest concern with Steele is how successful can he be with the lack of talent and the lack of depth on the defensive side of the ball? The OC is getting a Ferrari and Steele is getting a beat up Ford Escort
Folks are gonna have to have patience. Hopefully, the portal helps out. Definitely need some DL help to make his defenses work.

The oregon board has been talking for months about how Moorehead was not happy having to work under Mario. The coaching world is a small world, so I would not be surprised if elite coordinators didn't want to work under him.
Would you rather someone that doesn’t hold coaches to task or set high standards? I know it isn’t easy to work for someone like that but if done right it breeds success. But there is a thin line between being el jefe and just a plain *******

You're an idiot. Kevin Steele has long been one of the more respected defensive minds in the game and has worked for some of the best. Even the late Bobby Bowden said "he's as strong as anybody I've ever seen in recruiting".

Is he an A+ up and coming young defensive mind type hire? No. But he's certainly above a B grade and knows how to run and call an aggressive defense.
Perception certainly is reality. I told my cousin (who's a huge Nole fan) about Steele and he gut-laughed. Said he was awful at FSU and that his defenses were ***** soft. Sour grapes or reality? Who knows?

Mario is demanding, nut up and do the job. Thats why they get paid a lot of money.

Ok. And as a successful OC and DC you can pick and choose who you want to work for and maybe they don't want to work for a guy that demands you run up the gut on every play and wasn't able to successfully use the best QB in CFB at the time.

That is not what people said Moorehead was angry about. People said he was forcing moorehead to run "his style of offense". the runs up the gut every play. That type of thing.
