The Evolution of Javian Mallory's Game

For all the well deserved Mallory love, let’s not forget about how Pringle looked yesterday.
I would argue he is the only RB on the roster who makes the defender miss like he did on the TD run. That was absurd vision and quickness.

Pringle and Mallory next season keeps this train rolling (and hopefully Lyle).
 
It's hard to denigrate his performance merely because of the competition. Back in the good old days (2000-2002), we'd see the future stars pop in garbage time or in STs. It tends to be a harbinger of what's to come. I don't know how much we'll see of him as the schedule becomes more difficult but pretty excited for his role next year and the year after.

Mallory runs a bit like Gore post 2 ACL’s, but I still think Gore was more shifty even after the injuries.

Both are natural RB’s with great vision and great lower body strength and contact balance.

That’s exactly the version of Frank that @DMoney comped him to. Not saying the kid’s gonna play 15 pro years and retire top 10 in rushing yardage, but he possesses the template of a BIG TIME back…

I will never forget him beaking off some runs his freshman year thinking "holy ****, we got the second coming of Gayle Sayers." Then he hurt his knees and only finished as a Hall of Famer.

A tradition old as time. I remember when we did this for Najeh on grassy when he went off against some directional alsoran.

You’re definitely right, fam, but I will say that Najeh was THE guy after Edge left. Effed up part about it was that he suffered a career-altering injury during his coming out party (⏸️) as RB1 in the season opener against Ohio State. 13 for 81, looked like a man amongst boys, then the ACL.

Personally, I’m cool with the wild speculation on the kids given the current state of our progrum. When we had dudes stacked on top of dudes(⏸️ again), threads like these hit much more than they miss. It was during the lean years that we looked like blithering idiots hyping up the best of what we learned to be collectively mid…

I was at the Taint Kick-Off Classic as a kid. He was awesome that game till he got hurt.

We have a stacked RB room. I think they will all help us win in different ways at some point this year. Hopefully people here don't go overboard hyping the guy they like at the expense of another guy (who by the laws of CIS has to be Mark Fletcher), but that's like hoping gravity won't exist tomorrow.

Nice "problem" to have.
