There were horrible hot takes on Cantwell after game 1. Will be interesting to watch his season/career evolve and how much crow is eaten.

People don’t understand how difficult it is to do what Sisi did. They’re like, “Cantwell is a 5 star also so he’ll just come in as a true freshman, completely dominate, and be named a Freshman All-American just like he did.” Through 2 games some people are already willing to call Cantwell a “bust” or “overrated.” Huh??? How bout we let him at least get one full season under his belt before we start ripping the kid.

Not worried. We live in an instant gratification society. Nobody wants anyone to learn or develop. Luckily our coaches do. People were doing the same thing with Samson.

Oline is one of the more complicated things to learn when it comes to fine details that make a huge difference. Mario and Mirabal will get him right. Look up in 2 years and he’ll be a projected first rounder.

Am I the only one who thought Cantwell played well yesterday? I'm sure if you break down the film, there were certainly things he could have improved on. That's normal.

However, as an observer sitting on my couch, I certainly didn't see him as a weak link when he was in there. He's only going to get more comfortable as the season goes on

I agree 100% and I’m a little at fault for thinking he would also come in and be just like Francis take over a spot in the offensive line and just dominate, but it’s clear now he’s got a lot more development to do and that’s OK. We see it right in our eyes what development can do with pancake and I very much think the same thing will happen with Cantwell. It’s just gonna take a little bit of time and that’s OK.

You have to understand the differences between him and Sisi.

Sisi went to IMG, which is daily elite coaching, and going up in practice every single day against 5-star type players. Then, when you play games, you play against the best teams in Florida, and America. He's getting elite schooling, daily, and then playing in practice and games against the best players in the entire country. Literally. He was there for his Junior and Senior seasons.

Cantwell is from Nixa, Missouri, which I believe is waiting for it's first stop light, and who was coaching him? The school lunchlady? Give him time, Sisi was ready made. He was polished. This kid needs to be coached and needs to have iron sharpen iron in practice. I'm personally guilty of this myself, I assumed he'd come in and start and be great, but when I really thought about it and laid it out in my mind how I did above, I understood that's probably not reality. This kid's path versus Sisi's path couldn't have been more different.

He played good. On one rep which was a big run for Flecher, he got driven back like crazy but it happens. All in all he looked real good.
